The second set of fall standings of the 2011-12 Learfield Sports Director's Cup Division III standings were released today and CMS is ranked 21st with 146 points. This latest set of standings includes all of the fall sports except for football. In the first set of fall standings, which did not include soccer, CMS was ranked 20th with 96 points.
In the latest rankings, CMS is highest ranked team on the West Coast and is tenth among programs with 3000 or fewer students. Three teams earned points including women's cross country (4th - 80 pts.), men's soccer (t17th - 50 pts.) and men's cross country (29th - 16 pts.). The same teams earned 95 points during the fall season last year as CMS was ranked 49th.
The Director’s Cup competition is now in its 17th year. The competition awards points based on a team's finish at the NCAA Championships. CMS has been the top finishing SCIAC school in 14 of first 16 years and also finished in the top 60 14 times. 2011 was the eighth top 30 finish for the program as CMS finished 24th overall with 531.5 points.
The final fall standings will be released December 21. CMS will be either 25th or 26th in those standings depending on the results of the final two weeks of the football playoffs.
