Three CMS Athletes Named Academic All-District
Kristie Howard, Alex Johnson and Kristin Lim have been selected to the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team for District 8. The Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. The At-Large team is selected from nominees in the sports of (for CMS) golf, lacrosse, swimming, tennis and water polo. Nominees must must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average at her current institution.
Howard was a SCIAC Champion this year as a member of the 200 Free Relay and also scored in two individual event and two other relays. She was selected the athletic department's Female Scholar-Athlete for 2012-13. Howard was a member of the 200 Free Relay team that set CMS and SCIAC records and earned All-American honors in 2011. She is a Management Engineering major at Claremont McKenna.
Johnson is 20-7 in singles playing primarily at the number six position. CMS is 28-3 and ranked #1 nationally entering the NCAA quarterfinals. A four year ITA Scholar-Athlete, Johnson is Vice President of the Psi Chi National Honor Society. He is an Econ-Accounting/Psychology major at Claremont McKenna.
Lim is 27-0 in singles and 22-3 in doubles and is ranked first in the West Region in singles and third in doubles. CMS is 30-0 overall entering NCAA quarterfinals and after the team competition Lim will participate in the individual competition in both singles and, with partner Caroline Ward, doubles. Lim was the 2011 NCAA Division III Singles Champion and an NCAA D3 semifinalist in singles in 2012 and doubles in 2011 and 2012. She is an Economics-Accounting major at Claremont McKenna.
