Athenas Down Sagehens

The CMS women's soccer team avenged their 2-1 loss to Pomona-Pitzer to open SCIAC play with a 2-1 victory of their own on Saturday evening. CMS improved to 6-5-1 overall and 4-3 in SCIAC play.

Megan Kum (JR, South Pasadena) scored with 10 minutes remaining in the first half to give the Athenas a 1-0 lead which they would hold for forty minutes. After Pomona-Pitzer tied the game on a breakaway with 14:30 remaining, CMS responded with a goal 5:30 later. Ashley Green (SO, Seattle, WA) connected on a Carrie Culver (SR, Fair Oaks) free kick for the game-winner. CMS outshot Pomona-Pitzer 14-4 in the game.

CMS next plays at Redlands on Wednesday, October 11 at 4:00.
