Scheulen Named SCIAC Athlete Of The Week

Florian Scheulen (JR, Encinitas) was selected SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the week of November 10-16.  He finished third at the NCAA West Region meet to lead the Stags to a second place finish and an automatic team berth in the NCAA Championships. He was the first SCIAC finisher and ran 25:05, a personal best time by over 40 seconds. After running in sixth for much of the race, Scheulen surged into third in the last mile and closed to within four seconds of the winner. The Stags improved one spot on their pre-meet regional ranking and improved 11 places in the final national rankings to 27th.
