  • CMS Football Summer Mini-Camp And Recruiting Open Houses
    April 18, 2011
    Head football coach Kyle Sweeney today announced the dates for the Stags Football Summer Mini-Camp and three recruiting open houses. CMS will host a mini-camp on July 29. The recruiting open houses will take place June 17, July 8 and August 5.
  • CMS Announces Hiring of New Head Football Coach

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Director of Athletics Mike Sutton announced today the appointment of Kyle Sweeney as the new head coach for CMS football. Sweeney, whose leadership of the Stags is effective March 2, 2011, has been the defensive coordinator at the University of Chicago since 2009.
  • Twelve Stags Earn SCIAC All-Academic Honors

    CMS had the most players (12) represented on the SCIAC All-Academic team. To qualify, players need to have a 3.40 or better cumulative GPA.
  • Three Stags Named To All-SCIAC Team

    The All-SCIAC Football team was recently announced and CMS had three representatives. First Team All-SCIAC selections included Sam Jolly and Ed Mills. Ben Salzman earned Second Team All-SCIAC honors.
  • Stags Seniors Finish Undefeated In Peace Pipe Rivalry

    CMS finished the season in dramatic fashion with a 31-30 overtime victory at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. Led by a clutch defense and a determined offense, the Stags won their fourth straight Peace Pipe. CMS finished 7-2 overall, its best record since 2002.

    The Stags spent last Tuesday morning up at Condit Elementary School in Claremont. The players, naving the morning off during fall break, took the opportunity to visit a local elementary school and mentor some students.

    The CMS football team joins the NFL and other organizations in supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Stags are showing their support by wearing pink socks at their home games to bring awareness and support for those dealing with breast cancer.

    CMS beat Whittier 30-27 on Saturday in a back and forth game that was tied three times and that each team led multiple times. The Stags are now 5-1 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC.

    The football team improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2002 with a 31-21 win over visiting Chapman University on Saturday. This was the team's first win over the Panthers since 2006.

    Rick Candaele has announced that he will retire as head football coach at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps effective August 15. Assistant Head Coach Steve Retzlaff will be the interim head coach for the 2010 season.
