• Men's Basetball Set to Host SCIAC Semifinals Tonight

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team enters the 2018 SCIAC Tournament as the top seed and winners of their last 14 games. CMS claimed their 20th SCIAC Championship this season with a conference record of 15-1. The Stags will tip-off the SCIAC Semifinals on Friday night against the No. 4 Chapman Panthers. The Stags and Panthers will play in Roberts Pavilion on 7:00 p.m. The winner of Friday’s semifinal between CMS and Chapman will square off with the winner of No. 2 Occidental vs. No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday night. Should the Stags win on Friday, CMS will host on Saturday, thanks to their top-seed status.
  • Scarlett Tabbed as POY, Morris and Lynds Named All-SCIAC

    The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) released their All-Conference men’s basketball teams on Friday morning. The two teams, made up of 13 student-athletes, included a trio of Stags seniors. Michael Scarlett (CMC) headlined the awards season for the Stags, earning his second-straight David Wells Play of the Year honor. Scarlett was also recognition on the First Team alongside teammate Kendrick Morris (CMC). Fellow senior Scott Lynds (CMC) earned his first All-SCIAC honor with a Second Team nod. In addition to the trio named All-SCIAC, head coach Ken Scalmanini and his staff repeated as SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
  • Kirsch Brothers Lead Stags Over Beavers In Regular Season Finale

    On Tuesday night, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 75-68 victory over the Caltech Beavers. With the 2017-18 SCIAC Championship and top-seed in the SCIAC Tournament already locked up, the Stags used the game to showcase their depth and the talent of their bench. Brothers, Maxwell Kirsch (CMC) and Mitchell Kirsch (CMC) led the way for the Stags with 17 and 16 points respectively. Mitchell finished just shy of a double-double, grabbing nine rebounds to go along with his 16 points. Maxwell grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists. The brothers combined to go a perfect 15-15 from the free throw line.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team used a big second half to come from behind and take down the Chapman University Panthers on Saturday after celebrating Senior Night. Kendrick Morris (CMC) led both the offense and the defense, notching a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Scarlett (CMC) dropped 18 points and Scott Lynds (CMC) added 14.
  • Stags Roll Whittier, Earn At-Least Share of 20th SCIAC Championship

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team took an early lead over the Whittier Poets on Wednesday night and held a comfortable cushion throughout the contest en route to an 85-65 road victory. The win clinches the Stags at least a share of their 20th SCIAC Championship program history and their eighth in the last 10 years. CMS also locks up the top seed in next weekend’s SCIAC Tournament.
  • Stags Outlast Occidental, Open Two-Game Conference Lead

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team squared off with the Occidental Tigers for the second time in 10 days Monday night. The Stags claimed their 11th-straight victory with a 68-62 win to remain in first-place in the SCIAC. The Tigers made in tight late in the game, as CMS clung to as little as a three-point lead with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, but Scott Lynds (CMC) and Michael Scarlett (CMC) closed out the game by scoring the final nine points for CMS and the Stags took the six-point victory.
  • Scarlett Drops 32 to Lead Stags in Sixth Street Victory

    Michael Scarlett (CMC) went off for 32 points in a 72-60 victory for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team over the rival Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Wednesday night. After a slow start for both teams, the Stags started pulling away early in the second-half and led by as many as 17 points late, before claiming their second victory over the Sagehens this season. The victory extends the Stags’ winning streak to 10 games. In addition to Scarlett’s stellar night, Kendrick Morris (CMC) finished the contest with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.

As I watched the sun set over the Pacific Ocean it dawned on me that a year ago I was helping my dad shovel the snow off the driveway. What a difference a year makes!

    With first place in the SCIAC on the line, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team hosted the Occidental Tigers on Saturday evening. CMS handed Occidental their first conference loss of the season, defeating the Tigers 70-60 in Roberts Pavilion. Michael Scarlett (CMC) led the Stags with 20 points in the contest. Miles President (HMC) and Kendrick Morris (CMC) joined Scarlett in double figures with 14 and 12 points respectively. Jack Ely (CMC) owned the glass, grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds in the 10-point win.
  • Morris' Third-Straight Double-Double Propels Stags to Victory

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team went on the road and cruised to a 72-53 victory over the La Verne Leopards on Wednesday night. For the third consecutive game, senior center Kendrick Morris (CMC) posted a double-double, leading the Stags with 22 points and 13 rebounds. The Stags return home on Saturday for a battle with the SCIAC leading Occidental College Tigers. CMS and Occidental will square-off twice in the next 10 days with the top-spot in the conference on the line. Game time on Saturday is slated for 5:00 p.m.
  • Stags Run Away from Kingsmen with Big Second-Half

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team used a strong second-half to defeat the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen 76-57 on Saturday afternoon for their seventh-straight victory. Miles President (HMC) scored 16 points after the break and 19 in the game to lead four double-digit scorers for the Stags. Kendrick Morris (CMC) scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and his second in a row.
  • Stags Hold Off Bulldogs to Make it Six Straight

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team avenged their only conference loss this season with a win over the Bulldogs from the University of Redlands by an 80-66 final on Wednesday night. Senior guard Michael Scarlett (CMC) dropped 24 points to lead the Stags’ offense and Kendrick Morris (CMC) posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. With the victory, the Stags improve to 9-7 overall and 7-1 in SCIAC play.
  • Stags Hold Off Pesky Beavers in Roberts Pavilion

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team held off the Caltech Beavers on Saturday evening en route to a 66-56 victory in Roberts Pavilion. Michael Scarlett (CMC) led the effort for CMS with 19 points on a 7-13 shooting effort. Jack Ely (CMC) collected his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The win moves the Stags to 8-7 on the season and 6-1 in the SCIAC. CMS will next take the floor Wednesday when they host Redlands at 7:00 p.m.
  • Balanced Scoring Effort Propels Stags Past Poets

    All five starters scored at least 14 points in an 86-76 victory for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team over the Whittier Poets on Wednesday night. The Stags and Poets were tied 69-69 with five minutes to play, but a strong final push from CMS lifted the Stags to their fourth-straight SCIAC victory. The win improves the Stags to 5-1 in the conference and moves them back to .500 overall with a 7-7 record.

Scott Lynds (CMC) and Michael Scarlett (CMC) led the Stags on the afternoon, pouring in 41 combined points with Scarlett dropping 21 and Lynds accounting for 20.

    he Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team led the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen 36-31 at the half, but a fast start to the second stanza quickly pushed the Stags lead up 52-33. The Kingsmen battled back and closed the gap to as few as five points late in the contest, but the Stags held on for the 80-72 victory to improve to 3-1 in the SCIAC. It was a historic night for Michael Scarlett (CMC). The senior guard led the Stags offensively with 21 points and collected his 1,000th career point with a free throw late in the second-half.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team scored 90 points in a dominating, 90-63 victory over the La Verne Leopards on Wednesday night. Scott Lynds (CMC) went for 24 points while collecting two rebounds, three steals, and three assists in the victory. Michael Scarlett (CMC) finished a rebound shy of a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Scarlett also added five dimes in 24 minutes on the floor.
  • Strong Second-Half Lifts Jumbos Past Stags

    Playing in their final game of 2017, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team fell to the Tufts Jumbos 71-63 on Friday night. The Jumbos went on a 21-4 run in the early portion of the second-half to flip a 33-28 CMS lead into a 49-37 advantage for Tufts. With under six minutes remaining, the Stags went on a late run to pull within five points at 59-54 with 2:42 on the clock, but the run was halted when Tufts' Everett Dayton hit a back breaking three to put the visitors up by eight. In the final 30 seconds, Scott Lynds (CMC) once again brought the margin to five points with a triple, but Tufts knocked down free throws late to claim the 71-63 victory.
  • Lynds and Morris Direct Stags Past Pioneers

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team used 18-point performances from both Scott Lynds (CMC) and Kendrick Morris (CMC) to defeat the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 87-64 in Roberts Pavilion on Wednesday night. The Stags led by as many as 15 points in the first-half, but a strong run from the Pioneers closed the game to a 36-30 contest at the break.
  • Wildfires Cancel Men's Basketball on Saturday vs. Westmont

    Due to fires burning in Ventura County, Saturday’s men’s basketball game between Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Westmont College has been cancelled. The fires forced an evacuation order of the Westmont campus on Sunday and as a result, Saturday’s game has been cancelled.
  • Banana Slugs Slow Down Stags on Sunday

    Playing in their second game in as many days, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team dropped a hard-fought, 84-76 overtime game against the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. Off the bench, Nicolas Segura (CMC) and Jeremy Horn (CMC) led the Stags with big nights on both ends of the floor. Segura finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double while Horn finished with a team-high 17 points.
  • Morris and Scarlett Lead the Way in Sixth Street Victory

    The Stags came away with a tight, 72-67 victory in the Sixth Street rivalry on Saturday night. The Stags opened up a 12-point, 40-28 lead at the half before Pomona-Pitzer battled back early in the second-half to tie the game. The Sagehens ended up taking a 55-50 lead midway through the second-half, but the Stags fought their way back late to claim the five-point victory.
  • Bulldogs Edge Stags Late, Take SCIAC Opener

    The Redlands Bulldogs used a strong second-half to push past the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team 72-67 on Wednesday night. Michael Scarlett (CMC) led the Stags with 17 points in the game, including eight in the first-half to help CMS build a 32-20 lead at the break. Following halftime the Bulldogs shot 55.6% from the field and connected on 17 free throws to overcome the 12-point deficit at the half and claim the conference victory.
  • Lynds Drops Career-High, Stags Roll Past Fighting Falcons

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team picked up their first victory of the 2017-18 season with an 84-65 victory over California Miramar on Saturday night in Roberts Pavilion. The Stags were paced by a career-high 24 points from senior Scott Lynds (CMC). In the game, Lynds went 9-11 from the field including an impressive 5-7 mark from downtown.
  • Loggers' Pressure Too Much for Stags in Wells Classic Finale

    The University of Puget Sound Loggers levered high-pressure and a deep bench to top the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team on Saturday night by an 87-74 final. The Loggers brought full-court pressure from the opening whistle and subbed in five new players seemingly every minute to sustain the pressure throughout the game.

    The George Fox Bruins went 13-24 from beyond the three-point arc (54.2%) on Friday night to top the No. 15 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags by a 91-73 final score. The threes were flying early for the Bruins. George Fox connected on 10 of their 15 attempts in the first-half to build a 52-36 lead at the break. Kendrick Morris (CMC) led the Stags with 17 points in 22 minutes on the floor. The senior was second on the team with eight rebounds on the day. Jack Ely (CMC) grabbed a team-high nine boards while also dishing out a team-high five rebounds.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team wrapped up their season opening trip to Wisconsin on Saturday, suffering a 74-57 defeat against the Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers. Kendrick Morris (CMC) and Scott Lynds (CMC) both scored in double-figures on the evening with Morris leading the charge with 15 points.

    The No. 15 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps got off to a slow start in their season opener against the No. 11 Wisconsin - Whitewater Warhawks. Despite a strong second-half, the Stags were unable to climb back and fell by an 82-66 final in Wisconsin. Scott Lynds (CMC) and Kendrick Morris (CMC) went for 19 and 18 points, respectively, while Jack Ely (CMC) grabbed 11 boards to lead the team.
