BAKERSFIELD, CA -- The men's golf team traveled to Bakersfield, California for the ELCO-CSUB Spring Invitiational at Seven Oaks Country Club. The Stags placed 8th out of the twelve schools who competed and shot a combined score of 900. The three-round tournament also showcased CSU-Stanislaus, CSU-Bakersfield, Western Washington, Western New Mexico, Sonoma State, Cal Poly SLO, Northeastern State, CSU Dominquez Hills, Academy of Art, Simon Fraser and Dominican (CA).
Tain Lee (San Juan Capistrano) finished the tournament in 12th place by scoring a total of 219 (+3) for the three rounds. Lee's 68 (-4) in the second round was the second-lowest score on Monday and the lowest score by any Stag in the tournament. Ryan Irish (FR, Gold River) placed 17th with a 218 (+7) and John Morris (SR, Santa Rosa [pictured]) also finished in the top-20 with a 224 (+8). Irish improved his score every round and was able to score even-par in the third round. Matt Manotoc (Manila, Philippines) finished the tournament with a 235 (+19) and Kyle Casella (SR, Tiburon) finished with a 237 (+21).
The Stags will head to Redlands Country Club on Thursday, Feb. 25 for SCIAC #2. First tee is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
