Lee Wins NCAA Golf Title
Tain Lee (SO, San Juan Capistrano) won the individual title at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in Hershey, PA with seven-under par total of 280. He claimed the Division III Arnold Palmer Award presented by Callaway for earning medalist honors at the NCAA Championships. Lee, who finished eighth in this competition last year, won the title over fellow SCIAC competitor and defending champion Mitchell Fedorka of La Verne by three strokes.
Lee led the competition from the start. He posted a two-under 69 on the Hershey Country Club course on Tuesday and followed up with a three-under 69 on the Hershey Links course on Wednesday. He posted an even par round yesterday at Hersey Links and followed that up with today's two-under 70 on the Links course. Lee had three bogeys in his first nine holes today, but responded with birdies after each one to stay even. After a bogey on his tenth hole, his lead was down to one stroke, but he again responded with three birdies in his final eight holes to claim the title. This is the first individual golf title in CMS history. At the conclusion of the tournament, Lee was presented with the Arnold Palmer Award and was named a Ping Division III First Team All-American for the second straight year.
