Brad Shigezawa, the reigning Division III individual champion, will be one of 21 players competing in the 2013 Sun Bowl Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic on Nov. 23-26 at the El Paso Country Club. Shigezawa is the only Division III player in the field and is one of select few D3 players who have competed in the event's history.
The tournament has been played since 1974 and features the top returning collegiate players in the nation. This year's field includes 17 of the top 100 amateur golfers in the world, according to the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Alumni of the Golf Classic have gone on to earn more than $1.6 billion and win 617 events on the PGA Tour. Each university represented by the Western Refining College All-Americans will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The contestants will compete in a long drive and putting contest on Sunday, November 24. The first two rounds of the tournament will be on Monday, November 25 with the final round on Tuesday, November 26.
