Shigezawa shoots 1-under as only non-Division I player at College All-America Golf Classic
EL PASO, Texas – All-American and reigning Division III men's golf national champion Bradley Shigezawa of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team shot a 1-under par, three round score of 212 at the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic Nov. 25-26 at El Paso Country Club.
Of the 21 man tournament field, Shigezawa was the only player to participate not from a NCAA Division I school. The field included five Division I first team All-Americans and two golfers from 2013 Division I national champion Alabama. With his 15th place finish, Shigezawa finished ahead of golfers from Central Florida, California, East Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Kent State and Georgia State. Four of those programs are in the top-20 nationally, including California and Oklahoma State who are ranked fifth and sixth, respectively.
Shigezawa shot rounds of 69, 70 and 73 over the two-day tournament. His opening round of 69 was the fourth lowest score for a single round during the tournament. Gavin Green of New Mexico won the tournament with an 11-under score of 202.
