Having lost their midweek clash by a score of 2-1 at Occidental, the Stags Men's Soccer Team (3-2-2, 1-1-2 in SCIAC) looked to improve their record while away at University of Redlands on Saturday. After 110 minutes of play, the two teams fought to a 1-1 tie.
CMS took the lead just seven minutes into the game when David Taylor (SO, Brookline, MA) beat his marker down the right flank and delivered a pinpoint cross to Harrison Doyle (SO, Hidden Hills) [pictured] who beautifully placed the ball in the far corner of the goal.
The Bulldogs responded shortly after as UR's Gabe Ramirez took one touch off a cross and volleyed the ball into the net from the edge of the box.
The Stags next best chance of the game came late in the first half when Eric Bean (JR, Waukee, IA) hit a cracker that knuckled left, hit the crossbar, hit the goal line, and bounced out.
Both the Stag and the Bulldog defenses remained tight until the end of overtime and did not let in any more goals. CMS outshot UR 24-16.
On Wednesday, CMS will travel to the University of La Verne (2-4-1, 2-2 in SCIAC) to take on the Leopards at 4:00 PM.
