CMS downed visiting Occidental 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Stags dominated offensively outshooting the Tigers 26-13 in the contest. CMS improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in SCIAC.
CMS controlled the action in the first half outshooting Occidental 13-3, but were unable to put their shots on frame. The offense started connecting early in the first half as Eric Bean settled a cross from Daniel Price and put the Stags on the board in the 54th minute. Sam Ullman (pictured) scored what proved to be the game winner 13 minutes later when controlled the ball after a scramble off a corner and beat the keeper cleanly. The game got chippier as the half wore on as the teams combined for 19 fouls and three yellow cards. The Tigers got on the board with three minutes remaining when an Occidental header off a corner managed to just slip by keeper Ricky Doar.
CMS will play three home games in the coming week beginning with their rivalry game with Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday. The cross-campus rivals will meet on Pritzlaff Field at 7:00.
