CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team beat Occidental College 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Stags scored all four of their goals in the first half and held onto their lead for their second win in a row.
The Stags jumped out to an early lead when sophomore M Hogan Marhoefer scored a goal off a shot by freshman M Alex Censullo that ricocheted off the left post. Censullo found the back of the net 12 minutes later to put the Stags up 2-0.
Marhoefer scored with a rocket shot in the 31st minute, assisted by freshman M Michael Crowley.
Occidental scored their first goal off a penalty kick by junior M Alessandro Carotenuto due to a hand ball in the box by CMS. The Tigers were awarded another penalty kick but sophomore GK Joseph Mondello denied it with an excellent save.
The Stags were forced to play the remaining 28 minutes without two players who were ejected due to red cards.
Marhoefer led the Stags with six shots and two goals.
The Stags host Whittier this coming Monday (9/23) at 7pm.
