The women won their fifth consecutive SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday evening while the men finished second. The women's scores were CMS 994, Redlands 763.5, Cal Lutheran 435, Pomona-Pitzer 399, Occidental 339, La Verne 225.5, Whittier 144 and Caltech 136. Scores for the men were Redlands 946, CMS 751, Occidental 531, Pomona-Pitzer 361, La Verne 289, Cal Lutheran 258, Whittier 212 and Caltech 124.
CMS added two more champions on Saturday - Danielle Peebles (SO, La Mesa) in the 1650 freestyle and Lisal Smith (SR, Davis) in the 200 breaststroke. Both repeated their wins from 2006. This was Smith's ninth career individual title and Peebles's third.
CMS also had five second place finishes. On the men's side they included Matt Gannon (SO, Valencia) in the 200 backstroke and the 400 free relay team of Ryan Toohey (SO, Rocklin), J.P. Wright (SR, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Tyler Owens (JR, Camarillo) and John Sloat (SO, Lafayette). On the women's side they included Lauren Kristensen (SR, Saugus) in the 100 freestyle, Amy Fuller (SR, Burlingame) in the 200 breaststroke and the 400 free relay of Monica Brazelton (FR, Santa Clara), Peebles, Kevyn Klein (JR, Northridge) and Kristensen.
