CMS Well Represented In Fall Rankings
The CMS tennis teams are both the top ranked teams in the West Region in the Fall ITA/Fila Division III Tennis Rankings with the men's team ranked third nationally and the women's team ranked fourth in the nation. Michael Starr (FR, San Ramon) is ranked first nationally in men's singles and William Ellison (SR, Shaker Heights, OH)/David Oehm (SR, Menlo Park) are ranked first nationally in men's doubles. Guillaume Schils (SO, Shaker Heights, OH)/Larry Wang (SO, Orange) are the ninth ranked men's doubles team in the nation. National rankings in singles and doubles were not done on the women's side.
In the West Region rankings, CMS was ranked first in five of six categories. In addition to being the top ranked teams, Starr is ranked first in men's singles, Ellison/Oehm are ranked first in men's doubles and Stephanie Hammond (JR, Mercer Island, WA)/Lisa Steckmest (JR, Pacific Palisades) are ranked first in women's doubles. On the women's side, Jessica Nagasako (SR, Lahaina, HI) is ranked fourth in singles and seventh in doubles with Allison Laygo (SR, Pomona) while Hammond is ranked 18th in singles. In the men's singles rankings, CMS had nine players ranked in the top 25. Ellison is fourth, Wang is sixth, Eric Chow (SR, Sunnyvale) is 10th, Jack DePaolo (JR, Ashville, NC) is 11th, Schils is 12th, Mikey Lim (FR, Honolulu, HI) is 13th, Oehm is 18th and Eric MacColl (FR, Greenbrae) is 25th. In the men's doubles rankings, Schils-Wang are fourth, DePaolo-Evan Feldhausen (SR, Tucson, AZ) are sixth, Chow-Ben Hough (JR, Spokane, WA) are ninth and Lim-Starr are 13th.
