  • Stags Claim SCIAC Regular Season After Pair of Saturday Wins

    The No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team wrapped up their regular season dual slate on Saturday with a pair of victories. In the morning, the Stags went on the road and defeated the No. 34 Caltech Beavers by an 8-1 final before handling NCAA Division II UC San Diego 6-3 at home in the afternoon. The victory over Caltech runs their SCIAC record to a perfect 7-0, and the Stags are guaranteed home court advantage in the SCIAC tournament which begins on Friday, May 4.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team stayed hot with a pair of victories on Saturday including a 9-0 sweep of Cal Lutheran and an 8-1 victory over Hope International University. The victory over Cal Lutheran clinches the Stags at least a share of the SCIAC Championship, their 26th in program history. CMS is now 6-0 in conference play and 24-3 overall.
  • Stags Control Sixth Street, Sweep Sagehens

    In a Sixth Street rivalry match, the No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team blanked the No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 9-0 on Thursday night at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The Stags turned in their most dominant doubles sweep of the season against a ranked team, and then won four of six singles matches in straight sets to complete the shutout. It was the Stags' first shutout against the Sagehens since the 2014 SCIAC Tournament championship match. CMS improves to 22-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
  • No. 6 Stags Sweep No. 8 Golden Gusties and Poets on Perfect Saturday

    The No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team opened a Saturday doubleheader with a 9-0 victory over the No. 8 Gustavus Adolphus Golden Gusties at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. CMS followed up their sweep from the morning with another 9-0 victory in the afternoon, topping SCIAC foe Whittier in the second-half of their doubleheader. The Stags stayed perfect in eight doubles matches played in three duals over two days, and improve their season dual match doubles record to a collective 59-13.
  • Stags Pick Up 7-2 Road Win Against No. 13 Redlands
    April 06, 2018
    The No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis defeated a short-handed Redlands squad on Friday, improving to 3-0 in SCIAC and 19-3 overall. Playing with only five players, the host Bulldogs were forced to forfeit matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. CMS capitalized on the 2-0 advantage, sweeping the remaining two doubles positions before taking three straight-set singles matches at Nos. 3-5.
  • 8-1 Triumph Over No. 3 Middlebury Launches CMS Back into the Top 5

    No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis earned a hard fought 8-1 win over No. 3 Middlebury in a rematch of the 2017 NCAA team semifinal. CMS needed to come back from a 6-2 deficit and two service breaks at No. 3 doubles in order to take a 2-1 lead into singles. The Stags showed their toughness in singles by winning two three-setters, three of four tie-breaks, and saving two match points en route to a sweep of all six positions.
  • Stags Bounce Back with Wins Over UC Santa Cruz and Chapman

    After a tough loss to Williams earlier in the week, the No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team rebounded for a pair of victories on Friday at Biszantz Family Tennis Center. CMS out-dueled No. 34 UC Santa Cruz 6-3 in a morning match, before earning a 9-0 victory over Chapman in the afternoon session.
  • No. 3 Stags Drop Tough Battle Against No. 11 Williams

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team suffered its third loss of the season on Tuesday night at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, a 5-4 thriller to No. 11 Williams College. Despite two wins each from junior captain Julian Gordy (CMC) and sophomore Nikolai Parodi (CMC), the Stags couldn't overcome a 2-1 deficit after the doubles, nor could they rally from 4-1 down to overtake the Ephs.
  • Men's Tennis Earns Two More Wins Over Ranked Teams

    The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team earned a pair of victories over nationally-ranked teams on Saturday, defeating No. 17 Tufts University 7-2 and No. 34 George Fox University 8-1. On the day, the Stags went 11-1 in singles play en route to a pair of comfortable victories. The two victories improves the Stags to 15-2 on the season. CMS will host the No. 11 Williams Ephs at 5:00 p.m on Tuesday in their next clash against a nationally ranked team.
  • Stags Earn Third-Straight Sweep Against No. 6 Mammoths

    The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team took care of the No. 6 Amherst Mammoths on Saturday afternoon, earning their third-straight 9-0 victory in as many days. The Stags swept their way through three doubles matches before taking all six singles contests to earn their seventh victory over a ranked team this season.
  • Stags Run Away from Thoroughbreds and Lyons in Sweeps

    The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team turned in a pair of sweeps in non-conference matches on Thursday. CMS opened Thursday with a dominating 9-0 victory over Wheaton College (MA) before cruising to another 9-0 victory over the No. 26 Skidmore Thoroughbreds. Against the Lyons, the Stags dropped just nine games across six singles matches en route to the convincing victory. Their match against Skidmore was more of the same, with CMS earning straight-set victories in all six singles matches.
  • Stags Drops Tight Battle with Bowdoin for Stag-Hen Title

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team dropped a tight match against the No. 4 Bowdoin Polar Bears on Tuesday morning in the Title match of the Stag-Hen Invitational. While the Stags fell 7-2, the match felt much closer with four of the six singles matches going to three sets. Oscar Burney (CMC) won the only singles match for CMS at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory. In doubles play, Burney teamed up with Jack Katzman (CMC) to win the other point for the Stags with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
  • No. 2 CMS Shuts Out Pair of Ranked Foes, Move to Stag-Hen Final

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd Scripps men's tennis team cruised their way through the first two rounds of the annual Stag-Hen Invitational. In the morning, the Stags took care of No. 32 Swarthmore 9-0 to advance to the semifinals where they topped the No. 5 Wesleyan Cardinals in a similarly convincing 9-0 victory. CMS will play No. 4 Bowdoin tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in a re-match of the 2017 Stag-Hen title match.

  • Stags Top Tigers and Captains on Strong Sunday

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned a pair of victories on Sunday to improve to 8-1 on the season. First the Stags traveled to Occidental and swept the Tigers 9-0 in their first SCIAC match of the season. CMS then returned home and defeated the No. 30 Christopher Newport Captains 7-2 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. Eleven Stags contributed to the two dual match wins.
  • No. 1 Emory Edges No. 2 Men's Tennis at ITA Indoor Championships

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team dropped a tight 5-4 decision to the No. 1 Emory Eagles in the title match of the ITA Indoor National Team Indoor Championships on Sunday. CMS held advantages of 2-1 after doubles, and then 4-1, before Emory came back to knot things up at 4-4. With just the No. 5 singles match remaining on the courts. Matthew Jacobs (CMC) and Emory's Andrew Harrington created an epic finish to an important early season battle between the two team rivals, with Harrington edging Jacobs in a final set tie-break to give the Eagles their third consecutive Indoor crown.

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned a hard-fought 6-3 victory over the No. 6 Washington-St. Louis Bears in the ITA National Team Indoor Semifinals. The Stags took a 2-1 lead after doubles play and battled their way to win four of six singles in defeating Wash U. The Stags move on to the ITA Indoor National Championship on Sunday against No. 1 Emory on Sunday at 8:00 AM CST in a re-match of last year's NCAA Championship match.
  • Stags Handle No. 12 Trinity (TX) in ITA Indoor Quarterfinals

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team opened the ITA Indoor Tennis National Championships with a convincing 9-0 victory over No. 12 Trinity (TX) in the Quarterfinals. The Stags swept all three doubles matches before dominating singles play. Across the six singles matches, CMS dropped just 21 games and earned straight-set victories at every position. The Stags will be back in action tomorrow when they square off with No. 6 Washington-St. Louis.
  • Friday Double-Dip Yields Two Victories for Stags

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned two emphatic victories on Friday, defeating No. 12 (NAIA) San Diego Christian and D3 West Region opponent Colorado College by 7-2 and 9-0 scores. The Stags swept the doubles in both dual matches and won three singles matches without losing a game. These were the final two dual matches before CMS heads to the ITA D3 National Team Indoor Championships in St. Peter, Minnesota where they will begin play next Friday as the No. 2 seed.
  • 2018 Season Opens with Convincing Victories over NAIA Foes

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team opened the 2018 season with a pair of 8-1 victories on Saturday. CMS defeated No. 10 (NAIA) Arizona Christian on Saturday morning, before topping No. 13 (NAIA) Westmont by an identical 8-1 score. In both matches, the Stags won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play and then swept all six matches to earn the 8-1 victories. Twelve Stags earned straight set singles victories, while five doubles teams were also victorious on opening day.
  • Stags turn back the clock at Ducey Cup alumni match

    CLAREMONT, Calif. - Thirty-nine Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis alums spanning fifty-three years returned to the Biszantz Family Tennis Center on Saturday, Jan.27 for the annual Ducey Cup alumni match. Five of the twenty-four doubles matches pitted current Stags versus Stags alums, with the current Stags narrowly escaping with a 3-2 victory.

  • Berber and Parodi Finish Eighth at ITA Oracle Cup

    Sophomores Jake Berber (CMC) and Nikolai Parodi (CMC) edged teammates Oscar Burney (CMC) and Julian Gordy (CMC) in a thrilling, three-set match 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 two weeks ago to claim the doubles title at the ITA West Regionals. With the victory the duo qualified for the ITA Oracle Cup this weekend in Rome, Ga. on the campus of Berry College.

    The Clarmeont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team kicked off the fall season in successful fashion as the Stags hosted the ITA West Regionals at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center over the weekend. Despite having graduated four starters from the 2017 No 2. ranked team, CMS sent more players deeper into the singles and doubles draws than any of the 10 teams in the field.

    A tremendous group of five Athenas and Stags are being inducted into the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Alumni Association Athletics Hall of Fame this year. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Claremont McKenna College’s Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum.
