    The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team honored seniors Alex Brenner (CMC), Glenn Hull (CMC), Max Macey (CMC), Daniel Morkovine (CMC), and Rohan Shankar (HMC), and all five contributed to a dominant shutout of Division II No. 12 UC San Diego on Saturday.

    The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team closed out regular season conference play with a 7-2 win at No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer on Thursday night in a match that was considerably more competitive than the final result indicates. Senior captain Glenn Hull (CMC) won at No. 2 doubles and then clinched at No. 2 singles, on a night when CMS saved multiple set and match points, and converted in all four tie-breaks contested.

    The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team swept a SCIAC Saturday doubleheader, defeating Occidental 9-0 at home, and Chapman 8-1 at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center. Freshmen Jake Berber (CMC) and Jake Williams (HMC) led CMS with three and two wins respectively on the day. The Stags move to 22-2 overall and 6-0 in SCIAC, and sole possession of first place in conference play.
  • Stags get 20th win at Cal Lu, defeat Kingsman 8-1

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team earned its fourth conference win and 20th of the season, defeating Cal Lutheran 8-1 on Friday afternoon. CMS took two of three in doubles and then won all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Julian Gordy (CMC) and freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) each had two victories to lead the Stags.

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis teeam used a pair of doubles sweeps to overwhelm both No. 35 Whittier and Division II Point Loma by scores of 9-0 and 8-1 on Saturday. Senior captain Daniel Morkovine (CMC) led the Stags with two singles and two doubles wins.

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team earned its eleventh win against a nationally ranked opponent, defeating No. 10 Redlands at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center on Friday to move to 17-2 overall and 2-0 in SCIAC. Senior captain Glenn Hull (CMC) led the Stags with wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles.
  • No. 1 Emory sends Stags home with second loss

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team suffered its second loss in as many days, falling to No. 1 Emory 7-2 in the final of three weekend matches in Texas. Due to severe thunderstorms, the match was moved from Austin to indoors in New Braunfels, and CMS provided little resistance against the reigning National Indoor champs.

    No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ sixteen match winning streak came to an end on Saturday, as No. 4 Middlebury defeated the men’s tennis team 6-3 in a rain delayed match in Austin. Playing without senior captain Glenn Hull (CMC), CMS got two wins from senior Alex Brenner (CMC) at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

    The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team completed yet another come-from-behind victory by beating No. 15 Trinity University 6-3 in San Antonio, to open up a three-day, three dual match Texas road trip on Friday. CMS was swept in doubles but came back to win every singles match and pull away from the Tigers.

Freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) won four matches, including two straight set victories at the No. 1 singles position, to lead the Stags.

    Another day and another comeback victory against a top five nationally ranked opponent. On Thursday evening, the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis erased a 2-0 deficit to beat one of Division III’s deepest and most talented teams in a 7-2 win against No. 5 Chicago.

    In yet another improbable comeback, less than 24 hours after rallying from 3-0 down to defeat No. 5 Washington University in St. Louis, the No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tennis team won its seventh Stag-Hen Invitational title by defeating No. 2 Bowdoin 5-4 on Wednesday.

    In a dual match filled with momentum changes and saved match points, No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team outlasted No. 7 Carnegie Mellon by a 7-2 score as part of a double-header sweep on Sunday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. CMS defeated regional opponent Hardin-Simmons 9-0 in the afternoon match, improving to 7-0 overall on the season.

    No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps moved to 5-0 on the season with a 7-2 win over No. 29 Swarthmore on Thursday night at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. After trailing 2-1 after doubles, CMS did not lose a set in singles to pull away from the Garnet. The dual match was played using an experimental modified Division I format, where all singles and doubles matches were played using no-ad scoring.

    No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned its first two doubles sweeps of the season as the Stags easily defeated Caltech and Concordia-Irvine by scores of 8-1 and 7-2 on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The Stags used six different doubles pairs in the dual matches just a day after three CMS doubles teams competed in the 128th Annual Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship in La Jolla, California.

Jacobs and Williams were two of four first-year players making their dual match debuts for CMS.

  • Third place finish for Parodi and Hull at Oracle Cup

    Freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) and senior Glenn Hull (CMC) competed as a doubles pair while Parodi also played in the singles draw at the ITA Oracle Cup over the weekend in Surprise, Ariz. The pair placed third in the doubles competition and Parodi finished seventh in the singles.

    Senior Daniel Morkovine (CMC) became the first player in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis history to win the ITA West Regional in singles and doubles over the weekend. The Stags were the dominant team in the competition as the finals for both the singles and doubles draws were entirely comprised of CMS players.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s and women’s tennis programs are represented by 22 athletes in the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships, presented by Oracle. The West Regional is hosted by Pomona-Pitzer and will be played on the courts at the Pauley Tennis Complex and the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
