Both Track & Field Teams And Nine Athletes Earn Academic Honors

The men's and women's track & field teams along with nine athletes earned All-Academic honors from the United State Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced by the USTFCCCA this week. To qualify for the All-Academic award, all members of the team must average a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better and individuals must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
CMS' men, the 2009 SCIAC Champions, had an average cumulative GPA of 3.239 for their 45 athletes after the Spring 2009 semester. The team had the 23rd best GPA of the 51 qualifying teams. Dillon Ayers (SO, HMC, Eureka, 1500 meters), Taylor Berliant (SO, CMC, Sudbury, MA, hammer throw), Andrew Bogrand (SR, CMC, Portland, OR, javelin throw), Kris Brown (SO, CMC, Seattle, WA, 5000 meters), Warren Brown-Pounds (JR, CMC, Bow, WA, pole vault), Jeff Clark (SR, HMC, Los Altos, high & triple jumps), Georgi Dinolov (SO, HMC, Capitola, 1500 meters) and Brian Kopczynski (SO, CMC, Coto de Caza, steeplechase) earned individual honors. The Stags were one of two teams who had a nation-leading eight individuals honored.
CMS' women, the 2009 SCIAC Champions, had an average cumulative GPA of 3.358 for their 44 athletes after the Spring 2009 semester. The team had the 50th best GPA of the 100 qualifying teams. Mary Moore (SR, Scripps, Yamhill, OR, hammer throw) earned individual honors.
