Slow Start Trips Up Athenas Against Wheaton

CLAREMONT, Calif. – After scoring 85 points the previous night against the University of La Verne, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team had a tough time continuing their scoring ways, as they fell 70-34 to Wheaton College (IL) Friday night at Ducey Gym.

CMS failed to get on the score board until 10 minutes into the game, down 19-0 before they scored with a couple free-throw attempts. The start proved to be too much as they trailed the entire game. The second half was much the same. Thunder junior F Maris Hovee led all scorers with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

CMS (1-7) was led by junior F Cameron Ruby with 17 points. Freshman G Mara Falahee hauled in eight defensive rebounds and finished with nine to led the Athenas.

The Athenas next take the court on Tuesday, December 11 at California Lutheran at 7:30 PM.
