    A group of five Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletic greats have been selected as inductees into the CMS Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2014, Michael Sutton ’76, Director of Athletics, William B. Arce Professor and George R. Roberts Fellow has announced.

  • Defending national champs DePauw top CMS in first round of NCAAs

    Defending national champion DePauw University pulled away in the second half for a 79-68 win over the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship on Friday, March 7 at Neal Fieldhouse. CMS ends its season at 24-4, the most wins in school history.

  • A total team win as CMS runs by Chapman for SCIAC Tournament title, NCAA bid

    For the first time since 2004, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team is heading to the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship tournament. With a convincing, team-oriented 78-60 win over Chapman University in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament championship game on Saturday, March 1 at the Hutton Center, CMS earned that right.

    One season after the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team tied for a sixth place conference finish in the SCIAC, CMS has seen a complete turnaround. With a 60-54 win at Cal Lutheran on Saturday evening in the team’s final regular season game, the Athenas secured a share of the SCIAC regular season championship with Chapman.

    On senior night and the last regular season game in Ducey Gym, the Athena basketball team brought home a 55-47 win over Redlands. CMS betters their record to 21-3 overall and 13-2 in conference. The Athenas sit tied for first place in SCIAC with just one game left in the regular season.

    CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team beat the University of La Verne Saturday, Feb. 15, 74-51 in Ducey Gym. The win keeps the Athenas at the top of SCIAC play with a 12-2 record and a combined record of 20-3 with two games remaining in the regular season.

    Just a couple days after its loss to Chapman, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team bounced back with a 70-43 conference win over Whittier on Saturday night at Ducey Gym. With the win, CMS moved to 16-3, 8-2 in SCIAC while Whittier dropped to 1-18 overall.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team earned only their second loss of the season in Saturday’s game vs. Chapman. The Athenas lost 55-48 to the Panthers in the first game of 2014 in Ducey Gym. Missed opportunities and layups cost the game for CMS.
  • CMS downs Grinnell behind Scamman's double-double

    The Athenas beat the Pioneers of Grinnell College 72-58 on Tuesday afternoon in the second game of the CMS/Caltech Classic. Hamline University beat Caltech 90-58 in the first game at Ducey Gym.
