As Jodie Burton begins her 31st season at the helm of the Athenas basketball program she will be seeking to extend the remarkable run of her teams over the last 23 years. During that time the Athenas have won all six of their SCIAC crowns, finished second 11 times and have gone 190-82 (.699) in SCIAC play. Eight of those teams have won 20 or more games and four have advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs.  Burton is 17th on the Division III career wins list with 472 and has more SCIAC victories (223) than all, but one other program.

More gratifying to Burton than the wins she had piled up has been keeping in touch with her athletes and seeing them grow as people over the years. Burton also actively supports the movement toward gender equity in the NCAA. Burton lives in Claremont and has three sons: John, Todd, and Michael.

Coach Hill is starting his ninthyear as an Assistant Coach with the Athenas basketball program.  He played basketball at Tarkio College (Missouri--NAIA), where he graduated in 1970.  He continued playing basketball while a member of the L.A. Sheriff's Department, competing annually in the California Police Summer Games.  Hill coached youth basketball in Claremont for two years prior to joining the Athenas staff.  He took a leave from coaching three years ago to volunteer with the Katrina rebuilding project in the Mississippi and New Orleans Gulf Coast region.  John lives in Claremont with his wife, Brenda Barham Hill.
