• Athenas Rally Late to Top Pomona-Pitzer

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team had to mount a second-half comeback to top the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 60-52 on Saturday night in the Rains Center on Pomona's campus. The Athenas trailed 30-23 after a tough shooting first-half, but CMS responded in the second-half and claimed the eight-point victory in the Sixth Street rivalry game.
  • Athenas Claim Victory Over Bulldogs from Free Throw Line

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team scrapped and clawed their way to a 58-55 victory in Roberts Pavilion on Wednesday night. The Athenas held a slim 21-20 lead at the half, before both offenses started to get it going in the second-half. CMS earned the victory thanks to 17 free throw attempts in the fourth-quarter. The Athenas went 11-17 from the charity stripe in the final quarter to seal the deal and move to 2-0 in the SCIAC.
  • Strong Second-Half Propels Athenas Over Caltech

    On Saturday evening the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team came on strong in the second-half to earn their first SCIAC victory of the season with a 75-59 win over Caltech. Kailee Severt (CMC) led the offensive effort with a game-high 25 points for the Athenas. Maya Love (CMC) scored in double-digits as well with 10 points and both Love and Severt grabbed eight rebounds each.
  • Golden Eagles Edge Athenas in Non-Conference Meeting

    On Wednesday night, the La Sierra Golden Eagles edged the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team 65-62. Corinne Bogle (CMC) led the Athenas with 17 points in the contest. Kailee Severt (CMC) and Maya Love (CMC) also scored in double-figure with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Love also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. The Golden Eagles were paced by Alexis Davis, who scored 18 points off the bench in a 6-12 shooting performance.
  • Athenas Edge Bombers in Close Wells Classic Battle
    November 25, 2017
    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas defeated the Ithaca College Bombers 74-68 in a close contest on Saturday evening. The Bombers held as much as a seven-point lead in the second quarter, but the Athenas came back to tie the game at the half. With 3:44 remaining in the third quarter the Athenas took a 47-46 lead on a Maya Love (CMC) free throw. While the lead never grew above six points, the Athenas would hold a lead for the remaining 13:44 of the contest. Ithaca closed the gap to one point on two occasions in the fourth quarter, but the Athenas stayed in the driver’s seat en route to the six-point victory.
  • Athenas Pull Away From Spartans with Strong Second-Half

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas used a strong second-half to separate themselves from the Case Western Reserve University Spartans in a 78-58 victory on Friday evening. Kailee Severt (CMC) scored 22 points to lead the Athenas offensively. Maya Love (CMC) registered her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Love also dished out four assists and swiped a pair of steals.
  • Athenas Hang Tough, Edged by Loggers

    On Saturday night, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team wrapped up their season opening trip to Tacoma, Wash. with a 69-65 loss against the No. 17 University of Puget Sound Loggers. Despite a furious fourth-quarter comeback, the Athenas were not able to close the deal and the Loggers held on for the four-point victory.
  • Athenas Open Season with Northern Victory

    TACOMA, Wash. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with a 63-57 victory over the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in the McArthur Classic. Maya Love (CMC) collected a double-double to lead the Athenas with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Coming off the bench, Kate Parrish (CMC) finished a rebound shy of a double-double in her collegiate debut, finishing with 13 points and nine boards.

The Athenas held their opponents to just 26 points in the second half to beat the Comets on their home court. Additionally, the win marks head coach Kristen Dowling’s 100th in her career.
