The women's golf team finished ninth among the four-year colleges at the Lady Otter Invitational, which was hosted October 6-7 by Cal State Monterey Bay, with a score of 766.  The team, composed entirely of first year student-athletes, finished 16th out the 21 total teams competing (there were 12 junior colleges).

CMS shot 376 on the first day and 390 on the second.  Lauren Buchanan (Los Altos Hills) led the team on the first day shooting a 93.  Brittany Isobe (Honolulu) led the team on the second day and in the tournament with scores of 85 and 179 respectively.  Isobe tied for 31st overall among the collegiate finishers.  Buchanan finished 35th with a total of 180.  Kacey Curd (Englewood, CO) finished 45th (96-103=199) and Meghan Henkel (St. Louis, MO) and Lauren Shaib (Yorba Linda) tied for 50th (117-101=218 for Henkel, 107-111=218 for Shaib).

This event was the one fall competition allowed under NCAA rules.  The team will next compete during their traditional season of the spring when they co-host a tournament with the men's golf team.  The CMS Invitational will take place at Los Serranos Country Club on February 2-3, 2009.
