The women's golf team finished fifth at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational over the weekend with a three round total of 960. In the field of 21 teams, the Athenas finished behind three Division III schools that finished in the top 14 at the NCAA Championships last year and one NAIA school. CMS beat three NCAA Championship participants from last year including three that finished in the top 10.
Tiffany Su and Maya Reddy led the Athenas by finishing second and fifth overall respectively. Su shot rounds of 78, 77 and 74 (229) while Reddy shot rounds of 84, 74 and 77 (234). The pair had two of the lowest rounds of the tournament with Su's the lowest of the third round and Reddy's the second-lowest of round two. Elizabeth Diebel (83-82-83=248), Shaina Raskin (87-81-81=249) and Lauren Buchanan (87-85-86=258) were the other Athenas competing in the event.
The Athenas will be back on the course Monday-Tuesday, March 26-27 at the UC Santa Cruz Invitational at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
