Blees and Toney Earn Post Season Honors
Chris Blees (SO, Carmichael) was named the David Wells SCIAC Player of the Year for 2009 and Jason Toney (JR, Yorba Linda) was named First Team All-SCIAC. Blees was also the only SCIAC player selected to the D3Hoops.com All-West Region Team.

On a cold night in Spokane, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team fell to Whitworth 81-63 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

CMS To Face Whitworth In NCAA Playoffs
The bracket for the 2009 Division III Mens Basketball Tournament was announced Monday morning and the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps mens team will play at Whitworth University (Spokane, WA) in the first round Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 pm.

Stags Win SCIAC Tournament Title
CMS beat cross-street rival Pomona-Pitzer 56-44 on Saturday night to add the SCIAC Tournament title to their regular season SCIAC Championship. CMS improved to 21-6 and earned the SCIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Stags Advance To SCIAC Tournament Final
CMS used a complete team game to overcome a dynamic two-man effort by Cal Lutheran and win 60-54 in the semifinals of the SCIAC Tournament. CMS improved to 20-6 overall and will host their cross-street rivals Pomona-Pitzer, who defeated Whittier in the other semifinal, at 7:30 on Saturday night.

CMS beat Caltech 89-55 on Senior Night at Ducey Gymnasium Tuesday. The win, coupled with Whittier's defeat of Cal Lutheran, earned the Stags the outright SCIAC Championship. This is the team's 13th title.

Stags Hold On Against Poets To Remain In First Place
The Stags pulled out victory in a tense game Saturday night in Whittier, dominating the Poets for the first 30 minutes and holding on in the final seconds to win 77-74. With the win, the Stags remained tied with Cal Lutheran for first place in SCIAC with a 10-3 record.

CMS beat La Verne 64-61 on Wednesday night to improve to 17-6 and 9-3 in SCIAC. The win, coupled with Pomona-Pitzers overtime loss to Whittier, means that four teams are now tied for first place in SCIAC.

After Wednesday's win over a strong Cal Lutheran team the Stag seniors were 18-4 at home in their careers, but on Saturday night Occidental knocked off CMS at home, 52-51, dealing a huge blow to the Stags championship hopes.

Michael Bagby (JR, Coupeville, WA) was a perfect 6-6 from the field and Chris Blees (SO, Carmichael) had 10 rebounds to lead CMS to its second victory over La Sierra this season, 92-59. The Stags finished the non-conference portion of their schedule at 8-3.

Playing its first home game in a month, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps mens basketball team (7-3) started slowly and couldnt catch up to Point Loma Nazarene (8-4) falling 81-74.

Blees Leads Stags To Fulmer Tournament Title
CMS defeated Whitman College 79-78 in the championship game of the 61st Lee Fulmer Memorial Tournament at Redlands on Saturday night. Chris Blees (SO, Carmichael) scored 35 points and had nine rebounds and six assists in the game and was named MVP of the tournament.
