Blees Named SCIAC Athlete Of The Week

Chris Blees has been selected SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the weeks of January 11-17 and January 18-24.  During the week of the 11th, the junior forward from Carmichael scored 35 points and had 11 rebounds, eight rebounds and four steals as CMS remained undefeated in SCIAC play with a 66-58 win at Occidental and a 77-43 win at Caltech. Against Occidental he scored 16 points and had nine rebounds and five assists. Against Caltech he had 19 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in 18 minutes. In the two games he shot 78% (14-18) from the field.

During the week of the 18th, Blees scored 52 points to lead the Stags to home wins over La Verne (76-61) and Whittier (81-68). He shot 64% (20-31) from the field, 50% (2-4) from three and 71% (10-14) from the line. He added seven rebounds, four assists and five steals. In SCIAC play, Blees is in the top five in the conference in field goal percentage (1st-63.9), scoring 2nd-20.0), assists (t3rd-3.0) and steals (t4th-1.8). CMS is 13-3 overall and 5-0 in SCIAC.
