Swimmers Perform Well At Pentathlon

The CMS Athena and Stag swimmers competed in the Bulldog
Pentathlon at the University of Redlands on Saturday, November 14,
2009. Each swimmer competed in a 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard
backstroke, 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard
Individual Medley. No team scores were kept, but top performers
were recognized by adding up the times of each swim, with the
lowest total times placing highest.
The Athenas notched four of the top 10 finishers. Sophomore Emma
Jones (Eugene, OR [pictured right]) placed third, freshman Olivia
Graham (Mercer Island, WA) was fifth, sophomore Amy Tresenrider
(Sebastopol) placed 7th and freshman Emily Ott (Libertyville, IL)
was 9th. Additionally, junior Annie Perizzolo (Aurora, CO) set a
pool record in the 100 yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:08.09.
Freshman Elsa Cheng (Cupertino) and junior Jenni Rinker (Eagle
River, AK) posted the top two times in the 100 yard backstroke
(1:00.99 and 1:01.73) and Jones won the 100 freestyle (:55.07).
The Stags placed five in the top 15. Sophomore Austin Hallett
(Bainbridge Island, WA [pictured left]) placed third overall with a
combined time of 4:38.12, only .47 seconds off of first. Sophomore
Vincent Pai (Walnut) was fourth and nearly broke the pool record in
the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.85. Hallett was second in
that event. Other top performers for the Stags were Jordan
Lieberman [FR, Princeton, NJ] (11th), Blake Weber [FR, Redwood
City] (14th) and Brendan Huss [SO, Omaha, NE] (15th).
The CMS divers will be in action this Saturday, November 21 at the
Bulldog Diving Invite at the University of Redlands. The swim and
dive team begins conference competition December 4 and 5 with a
road meet at Cal Tech followed by a home competition with
Pomona-Pitzer.
