CMS Easily Handles Whittier
The men's and women's soccer teams each put on offensive displays as they beat Whittier, the last place team in the SCIAC, on Wednesday. The men won 7-0 at home while the women won at Whittier 8-2. The men improved to 6-6-1 overall and 5-4-1 in SCIAC while the women are now 8-6-1 overall and 6-4 in SCIAC.
Ian Norville (SR, Portland, OR) has a pair of goals and Pat Morrison (JR, Malibu) had two assists as the Stags scored four times in the first half and three times in the second. Their first three goals came within a one minute span. Single goals were scored by AnGee Baldini (JR, Seattle, WA), Kevin Festini (SO, Fremont) and Griffin Halpern (JR, San Diego). Whittier also deflected in a Baldini shot for an own goal. Alex Price (SO, Denver, CO) and Cam Whelan-Miille (SR, Sacramento) combined for the shutout, the team's fifth of the season.
Katherine Jarvis (JR, Monrovia) and Nicole Esclamado (SR, Napa) each had two goals as the Athenas broke open a 3-1 halftime lead with five second half goals. Megan Kum (JR, South Pasadena), Laurel Back (SR, Camarillo) and Audrey Soroka (FR, Bellevue, WA) scored single goals. Esclamado also had two assists.
Both teams next take on Occidental on Saturday, October 21 at 11:00. The women play at home while the men travel to Eagle Rock.
