Women’s soccer to face Pomona-Pitzer in SCIAC Tournament semifinal

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team closed out its regular season over the weekend with a 2-1 win at Whittier. With the win, CMS improved to 8-8-3 overall in the regular season and 7-5-2 in SCIAC and secured the No. 3 seed in the SCIAC Postseason Women's Soccer Tournament which begins Thursday, Nov. 7.

As the No. 3 seed, the Athenas head across the street to face second-seeded Pomona-Pitzer on Thursday in the semifinal matchup which begins at 2:30 p.m. Pomona-Pitzer defeated CMS twice this season, both by a 2-1 score. CMS won its last three matches to close out the regular season.

No. 1 seed Cal Lutheran (16-4, 12-2 SCIAC) hosts No. 4 Chapman (10-9-1, 7-7 SCIAC) in the other SCIAC semifinal on Thursday. The highest remaining seed then hosts the SCIAC Tournament final on Saturday.

CMS is led by the five goals and one assist from junior F Isabel Lester while Pomona-Pitzer is led by the 11 goals and six assists from Allie Tao.
