Athenas Dominate USTA/ITA West Regional Championships
Playing within the familiar confines of the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, CMS Women's Tennis dominated the final day of competition at the USTA/ITA West Regional Championships. For the second year in a row, Kristin Lim ( JR - Honolulu, HI) took home the singles title and then teamed with Crystal Lim (SO - Orange, CA) to claim victory in the doubles competition.
After the conclusion of the semi-finals, it was assured that an Athena would represent the West Region at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships in Mobile, Alabama, October 13-16. Defending NCAA Singles Champion, Kristin Lim defeated Jessica Ly of the University of Redlands, taking the match in straight sets, 6-4,6-1. While in the other semi-final, Jessie Huang (SO - Temple City, CA) defeated teammate Crystal Lim, 7-5, 6-3.
In the final, Lim defeated Huang 6-4, 6-1.
The women's doubles final was also an all-CMS match. The team of Jessie Huang and Chloe Dobbert (SO - Walnut Creek, CA) fell to number one seeds, Crystal Lim and Kristin Lim, 6-4, 6-2
The National Small College Championships held at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama will feature the top eight singles players and doubles teams in the country.
Also notable was Sophmore Erin Coughlan's (SO - North Andover, MA) five match winning streak to take the 1st Round Singles Consolation title. She beat Brianna Campanero from Whittier College 6-2, 6-3 in the final.
