Statement from CMS Athletic Director on Women’s Tennis head coaching position
Statement from Michael Sutton '76, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Director of Athletics, William B. Arce Professor and George R. Roberts Fellow
I recently received word from Coach Rush that she has accepted the head women's tennis coaching position at her alma mater, Trinity University in Texas. Coach Rush will continue to guide the Athena tennis team for the remainder of the current SCIAC season and through our postseason play. She will finish her CMS responsibilities and then begin her new position at Trinity in early June.
As we conduct our head coaching search, assistant coaches Katy Bickham and Hank Krieger will handle the day-to-day operations of the women's tennis program.
A national search for the next head coach of the Athena tennis program will begin immediately and I have no doubt that we will secure a head coach who will continue to develop the tradition of excellence in CMS women's tennis.
Coach Rush has done a great job of guiding our Athenas during her short time here in Claremont and we are disappointed to see her go. I would like to thank her for her many contributions to our women's tennis student-athletes and our department as a whole and we wish her tremendous success in her new position.
