The CMS Volleyball team captured its 5th consecutive win Tuesday night at University of Redlands in a 3 game sweep of the Bulldogs, 30-24, 30-19, 30-27. Tough serving and aggressive attacking by the Athenas pressured the Bulldogs from the opening points of the match; the team allowed Redlands to tie only twice in the contest, giving up the lead only once. Though Redlands senior outside hitter Lori Nakamura had 12 kills, CMS managed to hold the Bulldogs to a .110 overall hitting percentage and capitalized on its opponents' 14 service errors. Kendra Huff (Fr. CMC, Downey CA) was strong on the outside for CMS, tallying a team high 11 kills in the effort, while middle blocker, Helena Bottemiller (Jr., CMC, Burien WA) added 7 of her own and picked up 3 block assists. Three of the Athenas' players recorded double digit digs, including Lindsay Hull (Sr., CMC, Phoenix AZ) and Greer Donley (Jr., CMC, Leawood KS) who each had 13 and freshman Jessica Waggoner (Fr., CMC, Scottsdale AZ) who picked up 10 and was outstanding in serve receive. CMS remains in 3rd place in SCIAC play and will face Occidental College on Friday night at 7:30. The match will be the final home contest for the Athenas and they will honor seniors Alicia Freeman, Lindsay Hull, Lizzie Balch, Collette Hooper and Camille Butts before the opening whistle.
