    Over the years, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics has won 27 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Sports Trophies and has been ranked in the upper echelon of Division III programs in the annual Directors’ Cup Standings.
  • HMC's Linde Activities Center home to Athena Volleyball for 2014-15 seasons

    With the two-year construction of Claremont McKenna College’s Roberts Pavilion underway and Ducey Gym now demolished, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team will play its home matches for the 2014 and 2015 seasons at the Linde Activities Center on the campus of Harvey Mudd College.
  • Fall sports land 42 CMS student-athletes on SCIAC All-Academic Teams

    The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) released its final six (football was released in March) 2013 fall sports All-Academic Teams and 42 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps student-athletes made their respective sports’ All-Academic Team.
  • Accolades keep rolling in for Athenas after 25-win season

    The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2013 NCAA Division III All-America teams and junior libero Megan Coleman has been chosen as an honorable mention All-American. In addition, Coleman and freshman outside hitter Nicole Kerkhof were both selected to the All-Tournament team of the Atlanta Regional for their efforts in the team’s two matches during NCAA Division III postseason play.
  • CMS knocked out of Regionals in closely contested, 3-1 loss to Colorado College

    Colorado College ended the No. 23 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team’s season in the second round of the Atlanta Regional on Saturday, Nov. 16 in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championships. The Tigers upped their record to 35-4 following the 3-1 verdict over the Athenas who closed out their campaign with a program-best 25-7 record.
  • Program-best season continues with NCAA opening round win over Thomas More

    It had been 16 years since the last Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team made an NCAA postseason appearance and won a match in the tournament. CMS put the 16-year drought behind them with a solid defensive effort to defeat Thomas More in an opening-round match of the NCAA Division III Atlanta Regional on Friday, Nov. 15 at Woodruff P.E. Center on the campus of Emory University.
  • Coleman, Vlasich earn AVCA West Region honors

    The 2013 AVCA Division III All-Region Teams and Region Coaches of the Year were announced today. Megan Coleman was named to the All-West Region team at libero and Kurt Vlasich was named the West Region Coach of the Year.
  • Athenas heading to Emory Regional after earning at-large bid to NCAA D-III Championships

    The NCAA announced its field of 64 teams on Monday, Nov. 11 for the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championships and the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team has earned an at-large bid and is heading to the Emory Regional. Emory University is located in Atlanta, Ga.
  • Cal Lu sweeps CMS in championship match of SCIAC Tournament

    Going for the program’s first SCIAC Postseason Tournament championship, the No. 24 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team lost 3-0 to No. 3 Cal Lutheran in the championship match on Saturday evening at Gilbert Arena. Cal Lutheran won 25-17, 26-24, 25-14.
  • Win over Pomona-Pitzer sends CMS to SCIAC Tournament title match

    Back in the SCIAC Postseason Volleyball Tournament after a one year hiatus, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team defeated Pomona-Pitzer 3-1 in the semifinal of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament on Thursday night at Gilbert Arena. CMS won 25-20, 25-15, 19-25, 25-21.
  • Four Athenas named to All-SCIAC Volleyball Team; Kerkhof Freshman of the Year

    On the heels of a 23-win regular season, four Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball players have been named to the Women’s Volleyball All-SCIAC Teams the conference announced Nov. 4, including three on the first team and the Freshman of the Year.
  • Volleyball opens SCIAC Tournament Thursday against Pomona-Pitzer in Thousand Oaks

    On Thursday, Nov. 7, the No. 25-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team plays No. 2 seed Pomona-Pitzer in the first round of the SCIAC Postseason Volleyball Tournament which is hosted by Cal Lutheran. CMS earned the SCIAC’s No. 3 seed after finishing the regular season at 23-5 overall and 11-5 in SCIAC play.
  • Bruegl leads CMS to Senior Night sweep over Oxy

    Down in both the second and third sets, the No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team came back to win both sets and earn a 3-0 win over Occidental on Tuesday night at Ducey Gymnasium on Senior Day.

  • Athenas battle but lose to No. 3 Cal Lu

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team lost to Cal Lutheran 3-2 in the Friday night SCIAC showdown (25-21, 25-19, 15-25, 23-25, 15-13). The Athenas forced the match to go to five sets but could not pull out the win against the nationally ranked Regals.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team beat La Verne 3-1 in tonight’s SCIAC match up (25-18, 25-14,14-25, 25-16). The Athenas improve their win streak to nine games after a successful weekend.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team beat Rose Hulman Institute of Technology 3-0 on Friday afternoon. The Athenas captured a win to set up for the afternoon matchup against Caltech.

    Coach Vlasich began coaching volleyball at CMS in 2002 under Coach Dianna Graves as an assistant coach and became the head coach of the Athenas in 2012.     The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team beat Kenyon (3-0) and Susquahanna (3-0) in Saturday’s double header. After a wild match on Friday night, the Athenas came out strong and notched two more wins.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team beat UC Santa Cruz 3-2 in tonight’s match (23-25, 26-28, 25-16, 25-18, 18-16). The Athenas came back from a two set deficit to win the last three sets and the match.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team beat Whittier College in three games (25-12, 25-20, 25-23) on Tuesday night in Ducey Gymnasium. The 9-0 Athenas remain undefeated as they begin SCIAC play.
  • AVCA Has CMS Volleyball Ranked In Top-25 After 4-0 Weekend

    After a 4-0 weekend at the Posada Royale Invitational hosted by Cal Lutheran and an 8-0 start to the year, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team has broken into the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III top-25 at No. 23 the AVCA announced Tuesday.
  • Win Over No. 9 Puget Sound Highlights Perfect Posada Royale Showing For CMS

    For the second-straight year, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team won all four of its matches at the annual Posada Royale Invitational hosted by Cal Lutheran. A 3-0 win over preseason No. 9 Puget Sound on Saturday in the tournament finale highlighted the tournament for CMS which ran on Sept. 6-7.
  • CMS Starts Season Strong With Two Wins at Pacific Coast Classic

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team won their first two matches of the season on Friday afternoon at the Pacific Coast Classic in Ducey Gymnasium. CMS beat the Whitworth Pirates 3-0 in the first game and then defeated the Benedictine Eagles 3-0 in the second match.
