Four Athenas named to All-SCIAC Volleyball Team; Kerkhof Freshman of the Year

PASADENA, Calif. – On the heels of a 23-win regular season, four Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball players have been named to the Women's Volleyball All-SCIAC Teams the conference announced Nov. 4, including three on the first team and the Freshman of the Year.

Freshman outside hitter Nicole Kerkhof earned Freshman of the Year and first team All-SCIAC honors after leading the team in kills (426), kills per set (4.30), points (472) and double-doubles (12). Kerkhof finished third in the SCIAC in kills per set and fourth in kills during the regular season.

Senior setter Hilary Bruegl and junior libero Megan Coleman also earned first team All-SCIAC honors. Coleman led the team in digs (536) and finished third in the conference in digs and second in digs per set (5.76). Bruegl led the team in assists (705) and finished second in the conference in assists per set (9.79).

Sophomore Audrey Breitwieser earned second team All-SCIAC honors after putting up 363 kills, 177 digs and 43 blocks in 28 matches played.

CMS faces Pomona-Pitzer at Cal Lutheran on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. in one semifinal of the SCIAC Postseason Volleyball Tournament.
