2015 Volleyball SCIAC Tournament Preview

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team earned a share of the SCIAC regular season title with Cal Lutheran, both teams with a 14-2 record in conference. This was CMS' first SCIAC Championship since 1993. In the seventh installation of the postseason tournament, Cal Lutheran takes the top seed due to a tie-breaker rule giving the Athenas the No. 2 seed. La Verne and Whittier round out the field earning the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds in the tournament.

The SCIAC Postseason Tournament will be hosted by Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, Calif. on Thursday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 7 in Gilbert Arena.

Three of the four teams in the tournament are currently ranked in the Top-25 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA): No. 8 Cal Lutheran, No. 9 CMS, and No. 20 La Verne.

Semi-finals: Thursday, Nov. 5
No. 3 La Verne vs. No. 2 CMS – 5 p.m.
No. 4 Whittier vs. No. 1 Cal Lutheran – 7:30 p.m.

Final: Saturday, Nov. 7
Winners of both semi-final matches – 6 p.m.

Ticket prices for admission to SCIAC Postseason Tournament matches are set by the conference and are as follows:
Spectators w/ current SCIAC ID (Students, Faculty, Staff) – Free
Children 12 and under – Free
All others - $5


T-shirts will be sold in the lobby of Gilbert Arena: $15 for short sleeves, $20 for long sleeves.
