CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team lost to Hawai'i 21-2 on Thursday night. The Rainbow Wahines kept the Athenas scoreless through the first half but CMS was able to tack on two goals in the final two quarters.
The Athenas' defense came out aggressive but were forced to tone it back after a handful of ejections in the first period. The Hawai'i defense was extremely effective, pushing the CMS attackers to the outside making it difficult to take good shots on goal. The 'Bows' offense peaked in the second quarter when they scored seven goals.
CMS takes on Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount at the Cal Lutheran Invitational on Mar. 1 at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The Athenas are next home for the Convergence Tournament Mar. 6-7.
