Joel Kirk is an enormous Wakka Flocka Flame fan. He is very excited to be a Claremont Collie, and hopes to come out of his shell sometime in the next four years, and to be better liked than he was back in Connecticut. Joel ran a leg of the 4x800 team that won the State Open Championship and set the record both indoors and outdoors. He misses all of his old teammates from Simsbury High School dearly. His high school track PR's were 1:56, 4:28 and 9:48.
A freshman at CMC majoring in literature, he plans to read a lot of books. Joel is very inspired right now because he heard the word “collie” in the past two races. “At the PPXC Invite,” he shares, “there was this guy running behind me whose last name was Kahlid, but it sounded like ‘collie.’ It was great.” Joel’s goal this semester is to shower at least four days before his race. But that’s asking for a lot.
