Lucas Van Houten, a junior at CMC majoring in philosophy and economics, wears his compression socks with pride. “They’re magical,” he says of his black, calf-fitting socks. A graduate of Lower Merion High School, Lucas has been running for years. He tends to get names stuck in his head on runs, names he finds both aurally and aesthetically pleasing. “Usually they are names of famous artists of fashion designers,” Lucas says, “because they always have the best names. Martin Margiela. Yohji Yamamoto. Proenza Schouler. Umberto Eco.” Lucas aims to be in the top thirty at SCIACs this fall.
