The men's cross country team won the Pre-Nationals Invitational in Terre Haute, IN on Saturday. The Stags, ranked 21st nationally entering the meet, beat 29 other teams including four nationally ranked opponents. CMS scored 77 points and were followed by #12 Augustana College with 98, #25 Wabash College with 160, #20 Johns Hopkins University with 166, McKendree College with 210 and #31 Loras College with 213.
The Stags were led by senior Bennett Naden who finished fifth overall with a personal best time of 25:40.2. Zorg Loustalet was 12th (25:52.6), Brian Sutter 17th (26:03.0), Sam Pitcavage 22nd (26:09.5) and Rafer Dannenhauer 25th (26:11.8). The five scorers for the Stags had an impressive 32 second spread and next five were only 36 second apart for a 1-10 gap of just 68 seconds.
Justin Jones was 28th (26:12.4), Quinn Chasan 43rd (26:27.7), Evan Molineux 44th (26:28.3), Colin Briskman 61st (26:39.9) and Jonathan Briskman 69th (26:48.1). There were 376 runners who finished the race.
CMS returns to action this Friday, October 12. They will compete in the SCIAC Multi-Dual meet in La Mirada Park. Race time is 4:30 pm.
