Athenas Finish Second At Pre-Nationals Invitational
The women's cross country team finished second at the Pre-Nationals Invitational in Terre Haute, IN on Saturday. The Athenas, ranked 6th nationally entering the meet, finished behind only #3 Johns Hopkins University and beat 28 other teams including five nationally ranked opponents. CMS scored 77 points, 25 behind Hopkins' 52. The pair were followed by NAIA #3 Olivet Nazarene with 108, #12 St. Olaf College with 153, unranked Trinity University with 180, #30 Illinois Wesleyan University with 210, #31 University of St. Thomas with 225 and #24 Emory University with 259.
The Athenas were led by freshman Bridget Blum who finished fourth overall with a time of 21:56.4. Sara Mostatabi was 11th (22:32.2), Allison Barnwell 13th (22.39.3), Aubrey Zimmerling 18th (22:50.7) and Marnie Hogue rounded out the scorers in 35th (23:14.4). Laura Wyatt was 37th (23:18.3), Kate Crawford 42nd (23:22.6), Lisa Beem 43rd (23:24.6), Laura Sauvage 75th (23:55.4) and Taia Wu 112th (24:29.1). 327 runners finished the race.
CMS returns to action this Friday, October 12. They will compete in the SCIAC Multi-Dual meet in La Mirada Park. Race time is 5:15 pm.
