Head Cross Country Coach John Goldhammer has announced that three-time All-American Jennifer Tavé (Scripps '12) will be joining the 2013 CMS cross country staff. Tavé, who ran for CMS for three years, earned several athletic accolades during her time at Scripps including Scripps Athlete of the Year in 2010-11 and Alumnae Athlete of the Year in 2011-12. In cross country, she was a two-time All-American and three times All-Region. She holds the CMS record for the 6K cross country distance (20:51.8). A two-time cross country team captain, she helped lead the team to the NCAA Championships three times including a then-best fourth place finish in 2011. In track, she was an All-American in the 10,000 and competed at the NCAA Championships three times. She holds the CMS record in the 10,000 (35:22.27) and is fifth all-time in the 5000 (17:15.37).
Tavé finished her collegiate eligibility at Colorado State University where she earned a Master's in Human Nutrition & Exercise Science. In addition to competing for the Rams in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track, she also served as co-coach and director of CSU's Summer Running Club along with her CSU teammate Hannah Pensack-Rinehart.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the CMS cross country program, that has influenced me in so many ways," remarked Tavé. "I can't wait to work alongside Kelly and Coach Goldhammer in leading and inspiring the CMS cross country runners to keep chasing who they can become as people, as runners, and most importantly, as a team.
"Jen's enthusiasm, running background and familiarity with the uniqueness of the CMS program will be a real benefit," stated Goldhammer. "The program has grown exponentially over the last three years and we are expecting over 75 athletes this fall."
