Steve joined the CMS family in 1992, and since that time has shown a commitment to the overall health and well being of the student athletes at CMS, as well as a dedication towards the teams and the department as a whole.

A southern California native, Steve spent 6 years in Hawaii, graduating from Kaiser High School. In 1987, he received his bachelor's of arts degree in Athletic Training from Long Beach State, and immediately went to work with elite level gymnasts at SCATS Gymnastics in Huntington Beach. In addition, he worked at Marina High School for four years.

"I have the greatest job in the world. I get to work with hard-working dedicated athletes, coaches and staff, but all the while, it's all centered around games. The kids at CMS keep me young and energized. What can I say, it has to be fun when you work the hours I do".

Steve lives in Claremont with his wife, Athena volleyball coach Dianna Graves and their 3 dogs, Sadie, Lucy and Sara, their cat Tiny, and the fish, and Oh yea, Matty G, and Erin their two children. He is an avid Dodgers fan, and a Champ car racing fanatic. His favorite pastimes are The Long Beach Grand Prix and off-roading in his truck.

Craig graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.S. in Kinesiology. He has been a certified athletic trainer since 1998 after completing the the CSU Fullerton athletic training program. He is currently working on his Master's degree in rehabilitation sciences. Craig joined the CMS athletic training staff in mid-year 2002-03 after working at locations such as Esperanza High School, Santa Ana College, and Disneyland.

 Craig lives in Claremont with his two dogs Shiela and Gromit. He enjoys camping and trail blazing and"geo-caching", an elaborate form of  treasure hunting/hide and seek. He has a son, Gianni.

Raechel Cunningham joins the CMS Sports Medicine Staff as assistant athletic trainer after finishing a two year internship at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo while completeing her coursework for a Master's in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. She graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training from the University of La Verne. She is currently finishing up her thesis while also serving as the NATA District 8 Young Professionals Committee chair. In her free time Raechel likes returning to SLO, going to Glamis and spending time on the boat at Lake Havasu.

Chris Chalian joined the CMS sports medicine team in 1991 as the team orthopedic surgeon.  Born in Chicago, raised in Clinton, IA, he went on to study at the University of Iowa, School of Medicine.  Dr Chalian is a transplanted Midwesterner who came to Southern California seeking sunshine and warmer winters.  While completing his orthopedic training at Northwestern University, he worked with the Chicago Bears and Bulls.

Dr. Chalian lives in Claremont with his wife Laurie and sons: Saro, Ari, and Armen.  His boys help out as well, working as waterboys for Stags Football.

Dr. Chalian is a member of the Garey Orthopedic Group in Pomona, California.

Glen Moore MD joins us for the 2009-10 campaign as a part of the Sports Medicine fellowship program through Kaiser Permanente-Fontana. Glen is a local having grown up in nearby Rancho Cucamonga. Glen attended the University of California at Riverside as an undergrad then went to medical school at UC Irvine.

Glen played soccer at UCR and still likes to kick te ball around in his spare time.

CMS Sports Medicine is proud to be affiliated with Kaiser Permanente-Fontana Sports Medicine Dept. in their sports medicine fellowship program. Directed by Aaron Rubin MD and Robert Sallis MD, family practice MD's compete for three positions annually to be assigned team physician duties at area colleges and high schools. It is in this environment that they are exposed to the daily routine of care of student-athletes and the injuries they sustain participating in sports. They are taught "tips from the field" by the certified athletic trainers at the various institutions and given valuable experience outside the clinical setting.

  CMS has no formal student trainer education program. Student trainers are taught by the staff to tape, administer modalities, and perform some basic rehabilitation techniques. They are the hands and eyes of the certified  athletic trainers. Most of them are also athletes themselves. Football, basketball, softball, track or volleyball, combined with extensive schoolwork, (and of course the social life), make for some long days, and nights, but the dedication to the training room and the athletes is amazing.
