Ahmed Elsayed enters his fourth season as the diving coach for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving program in 2025-26. During his three-year tenure with CMS, his divers have won six SCIAC titles, two NCAA Regional titles, and earned two SCIAC Diver of the Year honors.
In 2024-25, Elsayed coached Izzy Doud to a sweep of both boards at the SCIAC Championships on her way to the SCIAC Diver of the Year honor, while Doud, Uyeno and Alexis Romero finished 1-2-3 in the one-meter. Doud and Uyeno also both qualified for the NCAA Championships with a strong effort at regionals, with Doud earning the championship in the three-meter.
in his first year as the program's diving coach in 2022-23, Elsayed helped CMS men's and women's swimming and diving to a sweep of the SCIAC Championships. His efforts were particularly important for the Athenas, as CMS went 1-2-3 on both boards, which provided a combined 106 points towards a final team margin of victory of just 10 points.
Emma Ng Pack earned the SCIAC Diver of the Year after winning the one-meter, while Izzy Doud won the three-meter and Makenna Parkinson was All-SCIAC in both. Ng Pack went on to win the NCAA regional championship in the three-meter, and take second-team All-America honors in the one-meter with a 12th place finish at nationals. Jack Griffith was also the SCIAC champion of the one-meter for the Stags, while Cyrus Gaylord was All-SCIAC in the three-meter.
In 2024, Elsayed helped first-year Meilan Uyeno qualify for nationals for the Athenas, while Gaylord captured a SCIAC title in the three-meter dive for the Stags.
Elsayed came to CMS with over 12 years of experience coaching divers, also serving as the head coach at Claremont Pomona Dive Club in Claremont since 2019, where he led one 16-18 diver to the final event in the 2022 USA national championships. He spent three years as the assistant diving coach for Crown Valley Divers in Laguna Niguel and two years as an assistant diving coach at Rose Bowl Aquatics in Pasadena while also spending two years as the head diving coach at Los-Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga.
Previously, Elsayed has had extensive coaching experience in Egypt. He started diving when he was six years old until he became a team member on the national team for his native Egypt. He began his coaching career in 2010 at Al-Ahly Sporting Club, competing in national and international meets, where the diving program was recognized as one of the top two in the country.
In addition to his coaching, Elsayed continues to dive competitively and recently earned the championship of the three-meter men's springboard for the 30-34 year-old age group at the World Aquatics Masters Championships in Kyushu, Japan on August 1, 2023. Elsayed earned 278.10 points in the three-meter dive to win a tight competition over Stephan Alt of Germany, who finished with 275.60 points. Elsayed was in second place going into the final dive, but earned a score of 44.55 on a 405C to move past Alt and into first place and pick up the gold medal. He attended and participated in the 2022 USA Masters National Championships and he earned 3 Gold Medals on the platform, 1-meter, and 3-meter springboards.
Elsayed graduated with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management from Cairo University, Egypt and he earned his master’s degree in business administration from Westcliff University in California. He is a certified FINA judge and has both USA Diving and AAU certifications, and currently resides in Rancho Cucamonga with his wife and two-year-old son.
