SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – High scores in the second round led in part to the No. 7 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team finishing in third place at the two-round SCIAC #1 Tournament, Feb. 21-22 held at Robinson Ranch Golf Course. During the final round Sunday, the field faced windy and rainy conditions which played a role in the higher-than-average scores throughout the field.
Competing in its second official event of the spring, CMS finished in third place on the par-72 course with a combined team score of 623, just two shots behind second place finisher California Lutheran (621) and one shot ahead of La Verne (624). Redlands led the whole weekend, posting a score of 599 in the two rounds. Chapman (655) finished in fifth, Occidental (658) in sixth, Pomona-Pitzer (660) in seventh and Whittier (682) in eighth to round out the field. CMS had a first round team of score of 305 and followed that up with a 318 in the second round.
Individually, junior Kethan Reddy (CMC) and freshman Jonathan Shaw (CMC) paced CMS as the duo finished in sixth and seventh, respectively.
