CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team lost to Whittier College 2-0 on Monday evening on Pritzlaff Field.  The Stags were shut out in a well fought contest against the Poets.

CMS was not able to contain Whittier tonight as junior M Devin Guthrie and senior D Francis Maxwell scored for Whittier with one goal in each half.

The offense did not have as many opportunities this evening as they had last week.  There were only three chances with corner kicks as opposed to the average of 7 per game during the Stags' two most recent contests.

The Stags were bruised up and could not capitalize on the many fouls committed by the Poets. Whittier also outshot CMS 20-13.

Despite the loss, freshman GK Alex Choi played well and had six saves.  Choi took command of the defense and made a few excellent stops on players near the edge of the box.

The Stags face the Leopards at La Verne on Saturday (9/28) at 7 pm.
