Stags Improve To 5-0 In SCIAC

The Stag swimming and diving team hosted SCIAC opponent Occidental on Saturday, January 23 at CMS's Axelrood Pool.  CMS came through with 176.5 to 58.5 win.

The first swimming event was among the most exciting of the day, with the top three places in the 400 yard medley relay decided by less than half of a second.  The Stag "freshman" relay of Jordan Lieberman, Brad Perfect, Devin Bowers and Sean Fitzgerald touched first in 3:45.08

The 1650 freestyle was also tight with CMS freshman Sean Smith just out-touching teammate Chris Ramos's late charge 18:05.29 to 18:05.86.

Sophomore Jeff McNerney [pictured] brought a charge to the pool deck in the 200 freestyle, posting and impressive 1:44.75 to top teammate Austin Hallett's strong 1:47.41 in the event.

Freshman Andrew Fevery won both boards, scoring 228.90 on the 3-meter springboard and 237.75 in the 1-meter event.

Other event winners were

Ryan Kristensen-50 Freestyle
Blake Weber-200 IM
Brendan Huss-200 Butterfly
Austin Hallett-200 Backstroke
Vincent Pai-500 Freestyle
400 Freestyle Relay-Hallett, Kristensen, McNerney, Bowers

The Stags will visit California Lutheran Saturday, January 30 for the penultimate SCIAC dual meet of the season.  Diving is slated to start at 10:00 with swimming to follow at 11:00.
