  • Both Track and Field Programs Earn Academic Team and Individual Awards
    July 27, 2018
    A total of 10 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track & field team members were USTFCCCA All-Academic Individuals for the 2018 season. In addition to the individual awards, both the Athenas and Stags were All-Academic Teams in 2018 with cumulative GPAs of 3.47 and 3.33, respectively.
  • Hall of Fame Class of 2018 Announced for CMS

    Five new members have been voted into the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame. The 2018 Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremony takes place on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Claremont McKenna College's Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum.
  • CMS has another record year in the Directors’ Cup standings

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.
  • D'Anieri Finishes 13th in Steeplechase National Final

    After a strong start in the 3000 meter steeplechase prelims, Thomas D’Anieri (CMC) came up short in the finals of the event. The sophomore finished 13th in the nation with a time of 9:40.83.
  • Stags Send Thomas D'Anieri to National Championships

    Thomas D’Anieri (CMC) will represent Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field at the 2018 NCAA DIII Track and Field National Championships in La Crosse Wis. The sophomore will run in the 3000 meter steeplechase for the Stags.
  • CMS Well-Represented at NCAA National Championships
    May 20, 2018
    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field is heading to La Crosse, Wis. For the 2018 NCAA DIII Track and Field National Championships. The No. 2 Athenas are well represented, sending seven different athletes to compete in seven events. The lone Stag headed to Wisconsin is Thomas D’Anieri (CMC) who will compete in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Competition begins Thursday, May 24, and more information will be available on cmsathletics.org later this week.
  • Schulz and McDonald Set New Personal Records at Redlands Final Qualifier

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team took part in the Redlands Final Qualifier on May 16 and 17, and saw two Stags set new personal records in their respective events. Alex McDonald (CMC) saw success in the 400 meter hurdles, as did Connor Schulz (CMC) in the javelin throw.
  • Hassman Climbs to Seventh on CMS All-Time List in 3000 Meter Steeplechase

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field team took part in the Oxy Invite hosted by Occidental College on Saturday. The Stags saw action in field events, but the highlight of the day came in the 3000 meter steeplechase when Evan Hassman (HMC) set the seventh fastest time in CMS history in the event at 9:17.18.

  • CMS Claims 10th-Straight SCIAC All-Sports Trophy

    For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.
  • Stags Land Six on All-SCIAC Squad

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field team landed six athletes on the All-SCIAC teams announced by the SCIAC on Wednesday. Michael Sill (CMC) earned the lone CMS First Team selection after winning the discus throw at the 2018 SCIAC Championships with a toss of 44.12m (144’9”).
  • Schulz and Mknelly Compete at Claremont Classic

    A week after competeing at the 2018 SCIAC Championships, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field teams were represented at the Claremont Classic Multis, hosted by CMS. Connor Schulz (CMC) and Bailey Mknelly (SC) took part in the two-day event, with Schulz taking fifth in the decathlon (2878 points) and Mknelly taking sixth in the heptathlon (3377 points).
  • Sill Wins Discus as Stags Place Fourth at SCIAC Championships

    The Stags of the No. 20 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field team finished fourth at the 2018 SCIAC Championships over the weekend after compiling 124 points at the meet. Michael Sill (CMC) took home the lone first-place finish for the Stags, winning the discus with a mark of 44.12m (144’9”) on Friday.
  • McDonald Highlights Stags' Performances on Friday

    The men of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field team saw action at two competitive meets with athletes at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific, and at the Long Beach State Invitational. The Stags faced off against tough Division I and II competition and held their own with three athletes setting new personal records.
  • Stags Dominate Distance Events

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team picked up two wins on Saturday after winning two of three duals at the SCIAC Multi Dual meet hosted at CMS. The Stags defeated Pomona-Pitzer 90.0-73.0 and Caltech 155.0-5.0, but fell to Redlands 84.50-78.50. The Stags dominated in distance events. Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) won both the 5000 meter (5:23.79) and the 3000 meter steeplechase (9:37.62). The Stags took three of the top four spots in the 3000 meter steeplechase to earn crucial points against Pomona-Pitzer.

    WHITTIER, Calif. – The men of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field came away with two wins on Saturday, defeating Whittier College 96.5-65.5 and Cal Lutheran 113.0-36.0 at the SCIAC Multi Dual meet in hosted by Whittier College.
  • Strong Showing for Stags at SDSU, D'Anieri Turns in Top DIII Time

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field team had a successful showing at the SDSU Invitational, highlighted by a standout performance by Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) on Friday in the 3000 meter steeplechase. The only Division III school in the competition on Saturday, the Stags held their own against some of the top programs in the country.
  • Stags Post Solid Marks at Redlands Invitational

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field team had 11 top-10 finishes at the Redlands Invitational on Saturday. Alex McDonald (CMC) posted the best finish of the day, taking third in the 400 meter hurdles. The Stags had the top Division III marks in five different events.
  • D'Anieri Breaks School Record, Stags in Action at Oxy

    The Stags of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field team dodged the rain at the Oxy Sprint and Distance Carnival on Saturday. Though not the entire team participated, multiple Stags posted top-10 finishes, including a new school record from Thomas D'Anieri in the 5,000 meter run. His time of 14:21.04 was less than a second faster than the 14:21.74 posted by Rafer Dannenhauer in 2013.
  • Four CMS Student-Athletes Earn Indoor All-Region Accolades

    Earlier this week, four CMS track and field athletes were honored by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), garnering Indoor All-West Region nods. Among the honorees were Tyra Abraham (SC), Emily Bassett (CMC), Bryn McKillop (SC), and Thomas D’Anieri (CMC). Abraham and McKillop will compete in the Indoor National Championships this weekend in Birmingham, Ala. Check CMSathletics.org later this week for a preview of their races.
  • Peterson and Sill Throw their Way to Top Spots

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team took part in the first SCIAC Multi Dual of the season on Saturday at Occidental College. The Stags came away with two wins, defeating La Verne 89-74 and Chapman 133-12, but fell in a tight battle with Occidental 82-79. Three Stags posted first-place finishes. The Stags are back in action on Mar. 10 when they head to Occidental College for the Oxy Distance and Sprint Carnival.
  • McDonald Highlights Westmont On Your Marks Meet

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field team opened the 2018 season at the Westmont On Your Marks Meet on Saturday. While the Stags did not bring their full roster to the event, CMS had a strong showing in their season opener with Alex McDonald (CMC) providing the highlight of the day with a victory in the 400 meter dash (50.81). Including McDonald’s victory, the Stags collected four top-three finishes.
  • Men's Track and Field Poised for Strong 2018

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s track and field team will take to the track for the first time in the 2018 season on Saturday. The Westmont Wake-Up Meet in Santa Barbara, Calif. will be the first of a handful of indoor events for the Stags this year.
  • D'Anieri Wins 5K at Tufts Indoor Invite
    January 13, 2018
    Running in his home state of Massachusetts, Thomas D’Anieri (CMC) turned in the sixth best time in NCAA Division III in the 5K on Saturday at the Tufts Invite at Tufts University. D’Anieri finished with a time of 14:57.03 to win the race by over a minute in front of a field of five runners from the US Coast Guard.
