    NEWBURG, Ore. - The No. 10 George Fox women's basketball team used a 15-1 fourth-quarter run to turn a 45-41 lead into a 60-42 advantage and went on to take a 66-48 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday evening at the Bruin Classic.

    CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball won its fifth-consecutive regular season Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship a season ago. The 2017-18 season also marked the fifth straight year in which the Athenas broke the 20-win barrier – the standard for wins in college basketball.

    Four new members were inducted into the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame at the 2018 Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 10. The ceremony was held at Claremont McKenna College's Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum, marking the 28th Hall of Fame induction class at CMS.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball graduated its largest class ever in 2017 with six players, four of whom were starter, leaving the Athenas. Not to be outdone by their predecessor, the 2017-18 edition of CMS Athenas basketball took off running in route to one of the most successful seasons in school history.
  • CMS Claims 10th-Straight SCIAC All-Sports Trophy

    For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.

  • Chapman Edges Athenas in Double OT Thriller for SCIAC Tourney Title

    It was a fitting end to the SCIAC women's basketball season. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Chapman finished the regular season tied with identical 15-1 conference records. Their only losses coming to one another during a regular season series split. So it was fitting that the two heavyweights duked it out for 40 minutes of regulation and then two overtime periods in the SCIAC Tournament Championship. When the dust settled, the Athenas were on the wrong end of a 70-61 decision.
  • Athenas Outlast Redlands, Advance to Fifth-Straight SCIAC Championship Game

    The top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team edged the No. 4-seeded University of Redlands Bulldogs 69-65 on Thursday night to advance to their fifth-straight SCIAC Conference Championship Game on Saturday. Kate Parrish (CMC) led the Athenas with 16 points off the bench and Corinne Bogle (CMC) dropped 15. Maya Love (CMC) continued to dominate at both ends of the court, notching her 13th double-double of the season with 11 rebounds and 10 points.

    On Thursday morning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) released their All-Conference women’s basketball team. Among the 13 student-athletes named to the All-Conference teams were a trio of Athenas. Senior Kailee Severt (CMC) and sophomore Maya Love (CMC) earned First Team accolades while senior Corinne Bogle (CMC) was honored on the Second Team.

    With a victory against Chapman over the weekend, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team claimed a share of the SCIAC Championship. The Athenas and Panthers finished the regular season tied on top of the SCIAC Standings with a 15-1 conference record. A coin flip following the final game of the season gave the Athenas the top seed heading into this weekend’s tournament. No. 1 CMS will host the No. 4 Redlands Bulldogs on Thursday night in Roberts Pavilion at 7:00 p.m.

Yes, yes, at 13 years old you have already perfected your nonchalant, super quiet personality, but on the inside I know you're freaking out when the littlest thing changes.

    Needing a victory over Chapman on Saturday night to claim a share of the 2017-18 SCIAC Championship, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team played some of their best basketball of the season for the first three quarters to build a massive, 56-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Despite a late push by the Panthers, CMS held on down the stretch for the 67-58 win.

    Kate Parrish (CMC) was unstoppable off the bench tonight in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball’s win over the Whittier College Poets. The freshman dropped 20 points on an 8-12 mark from the field and a perfect 4-4 effort from the free throw line. She had a strong defensive presence as well, stuffing three Whittier shots and grabbing five boards in the 69-42 victory.
  • She's On Fire! Severt Pops Off for 28 in Sixth Street Showdown

    Two and a half minutes was all Kailee Severt (CMC) needed to turn Thursday’s Sixth Street rivalry game on its head. The Athenas held a 34-31 lead at the end of the first-half, but Severt knocked down four threes in the first two minutes and change of the second-half to quickly give CMS a comfortable lead. After the three-point barrage, the Athenas cruised to the 76-51 victory over the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. Severt led all scorers on the night with an ultra-efficient, 10-13 shooting performance for 28 points in just three quarters of play. The senior did not appear in the fourth quarter as the Athenas already held a 62-47 lead heading into the final period.

    With just seconds on the clock and the Athenas trailing by one, Maya Love (CMC) battled her way through the lane and finished a layup to give Claremont-Mudd-Scripps a 52-51 victory over the visiting Cal Lutheran Regals. The layup from Love was a fitting way for the Athenas to get their game winner. The sophomore finished the night with 19 points and 16 rebounds in a thrilling victory for CMS.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team trailed for a majority of the first-half against Occidental on Saturday night, but came from behind to grind out a 67-55 victory. Gloria Bates (CMC) turned in a career-high 18 points off the bench to help lead the Athenas to their 11th SCIAC victory of the season. Maya Love (CMC) collected her 10th double-double of the season. She finished Saturday’s game with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Corinne Bogle (CMC) joined Love and Bates in double-figures, tallying 10 points on the night.
  • Women's Basketball Outlasts Scrappy La Verne Squad in Overtime

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat the La Verne Leopards 80-77 in overtime on Wednesday night. The Athenas used a balanced scoring effort to complete the victory with Corinne Bogle (CMC) leading the offense with 19 points. Bogle also grabbed 14 rebounds for her first career double-double. Ellery Koelker-Wolfe (CMC) also completed her first career double-double with an impressive 13-point, 18-rebound effort on the evening. The victory improves the Athenas to 17-3 overall and 10-1 in the SCIAC.
  • Ten Athenas Score in Road Victory Over Regals

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team built a 31-18 lead at halftime before cruising to a 69-52 victory over the Cal Lutheran Regals on Saturday evening. Kate Parrish (CMC) scored 14 points off the bench to lead 10 different scorers for the Athenas in the victory. CMS forced 19 turnovers and held the Regals to a 34.0% mark from the field in the game. Maya Love filled up the box score with 10 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the 17-point victory.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team held the Redlands Bulldogs to just 45 points and did enough on the offensive end to take home a 58-45 victory on Wednesday night. Kailee Severt (CMC) dropped 16 points, thanks in large part to a 9-10 effort from the free throw line to lead the scoring for CMS. Kate Parrish (CMC) added 12 points off the bench to help lead the Athenas past the Bulldogs for their eighth SCIAC victory of the season. Maya Love (CMC) finished a point shy of a double-double, grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds and collecting nine points.
  • CMS Leads Wire-To-Wire For Victory Over Caltech

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team opened Saturday's game with a layup by Maya Love (CMC) and led wire-to-wire against the Caltech Beavers to claim a 68-47 victory. Love finished the game as the Athenas' leading scorer with 14 points in a balanced effort for CMS. A total of 12 different Athenas found the bottom of the cup and all 14 available players saw the floor in the contest. With the win the Athenas move 14-3 on the season and 7-1 in the SCIAC.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team closed out Wednesday's game with a 13-6 run over the final four minutes to beat the Whittier Poets on their home floor by a 62-51 final. The Athenas held a slim, 49-45 lead following a Whittier free throw with 3:59 remaining in the game, but a strong final stretch allowed the Athenas to push past the Poets and claim the 11-point victory. Corinne Bogle (CMC) and Maya Love (CMC) led four double-digit scorers with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Love added 13 rebounds in the game for her ninth double-double of the season.
  • Panthers Halt Athenas' Win Streak at Nine Games

    ORANGE, Calif. - In a battle between the only two remaining undefeated teams in the SCIAC, the Chapman Panthers used a strong second-half to top the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team 68-56 on Saturday evening. The loss is the first for the Athenas since Nov. 29 and snaps a nine-game winning streak. After a slow opening quarter, the Athenas took a 27-22 lead heading into the half, but Chapman outscored CMS 46-29 after the break to halt the Athenas’ win streak just shy of double-digits.
  • The Power of Love: Maya Goes Off in Comeback Victory

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas trailed by as many as 12 points on Monday night against Occidental, but a huge fourth quarter helped lift CMS past the Tigers 57-51. Maya Love (CMC) set career-highs with 25-points and 21 rebounds in an impressive double-double to lead the Athenas to the comeback victory. Both teams struggled from the field, with Tigers firing at a 28.1% clip (16-57) and CMS just percentage points better at 28.8% in the game (19-66). The Athenas made the most of their buckets outscoring the Tigers 15-5 in the fourth quarter.

    Kate Parrish (CMC) turned in her second-straight double-double to lead the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team past the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs 64-43 on Friday evening. The Athenas took control of the contest by outscoring the Banana Slugs 17-3 in the second quarter. The impressive period helped put the Athenas up 34-16 at the break and, after a relatively even second-half, CMS earned their eighth-straight victory. The Athenas held Santa Cruz to just a 28.8 shooting percentage from the floor (15-52) and out rebounded the Banana Slugs 48-27 in the contest.
