Athenas Win SCIAC’s First Tournament, Reddy Wins As Well

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team won the SCIAC No. 1 golf tournament by 47 strokes on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Empire Lakes Golf Course over second place Redlands and junior Maya Reddy finished in first as well. Originally scheduled as a two-day tournament, the second day of the tournament was cancelled because of 50-plus mile an hour winds. CMS has now won its last two tournaments.

The Athenas had a team score of 307 on the par-72 course which was 19-over par, while Redlands (354) and Cal Lutheran (360) rounded out the top three in the six team tournament. The Athenas had the top five finishers in the tournament led by Reddy who finished at an even par 72. Sophomore Tiffany Su (76), sophomore Marissa Suehiro (79) and sophomore Shaina Raskin (80) were the top four finishers, while freshman Caroline Belmont (84) tied for fifth with three other golfers. Junior Jackie Ketner (90) tied for 14th for CMS.

Next up on the schedule for CMS is the three-day Collegiate Invitational at Jekyll Island, Georgia.
