Four Athenas In Top-10 As Team Runs Away With Win At SCIAC #2 Tourney

LOMPOC, Calif. – Four Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golfers finished in the top-10 as the team won the two-round SCIAC #2 Golf Tournament by 43 strokes over the weekend at La Purisima Golf Course. Sophomore Tiffany Su and junior Maya Reddy finished tied atop the leaderboard for first place with a score of 165 at 21-over par on the par 72 course.

As a team, CMS finished with an overall score of 681 which was 43 strokes ahead of second place Redlands. CMS led by 20 strokes after the first round with a score of 346. In the second round of the tournament, CMS improved by 11 shots and finished with a score of 335.

In the second round, Su and Reddy scored the two lowest rounds of the weekend, a 79 and 81, respectively. Reddy has finished in first or alone in first three times this spring in five tournaments played.

Also in the top-10 for CMS were sophomore Shaina Raskin who tied for fifth with a score of 31-over, 175 and sophomore Marissa Suehiro with a score of 32-over, 176. Suehiro shot an 88 both days while Raskin shot an 88 in the first round and an 87 in the second.

Junior Elizabeth Diebel (184, +40) and freshman Melody Sue (189, +45) rounded out the field for CMS.

The Athenas now have nearly three weeks off from competition to fine-tune their game before the SCIAC Championships which run from April 27-29 at Oak Valley Golf Course.
